This forum is awesome!

Post by ksl » Fri, 18 Mar 2011 3:47 pm

I was just glancing through the page of the forum in the general section, when I noticed some significant data.

From 3rd of March to date one post has been viewed over 37000 times, I think it's the diamond post, also the INdia girls post rakes in over 20000 views. Though not many replies!

The FP thread pulled over 400 replies with over 12000 visits, and now it's locked  :P

Though what can we deduce from all this? Are most viewers women or men? I don't know myself has I haven't thought much of delving any deeper into the analysis of the website. Though it is sure of interest in a marketing perspective wouldn't you say.

Any chance of getting this reduced to a reasonable level that reflects the viewing of the headline, not forgetting that the views are on the topics and not the advertisements.

This would certainly improve the advertising revenue to this forum i think. Though what do others think? Joop maybe interested in this feedback.

No of course not I'm just kissing butt, to get the advertising prices down

We have 115365 registered users (Many with 2 or 3 Aliases and have since left the country, many live outside the Country)
In total there are 129 users online :: 8 Registered, 1 Hidden and 120 Guests (From around the world)
Most users ever online was 1135 on Tue Jan 25, 2011 9:44 am

The daily viewing statistics are not so hot, so for those wanting to place adverts are held back. The only plus is that it is an expat forum, with expat prices, that don't justify the advertising fee. Think the expat magazine will have to be looked at in stead.

The heading was just to get you in here to voice your opinion ha! ha! 8-) Maybe we should have a trolls corner too just to liven the place up and a scream box, Anne can be moderator hee hee! SMS can't handle it any longer and with only 2 years left to his 250th anniversary, and his retirement we should refrain from the jibes a little, mind you he's a good and lively player, that hits the ball

This is just a thread to see if there is more interest from advertisers, if the price was lowered really. I have an interest but my home work is showing not feasible at the set prices and I'm sure the forum would like to generate revenue too so it may help to look at the perspectives.

ksl, the guests on the site......

Probably 75% of those are bots. Google spider bots crawl this site 24/7 as well as numerous other search spider bots.

Yes it tallies with my own website stats, thanks for the reminder! Though do they add to the actual views? Not sure myself, but suspect the bots not registering the views on the threads, but only the general headings which are fed to the internet directory.

Otherwise we could make a thread and just watch the bots, operate the clicks to the view section without people reading and I don't think it happens like that.

Pretty confident you maybe right, now i think about it.

You mean you never noticed? Thanks for your support!

Though there are ads in the threads too, if you can spot them  Like after the 1st original post. Though it would be better placed in between the bottom two post of a page. the head & end banners appear okay but they are google ads.

Though not sure if they are generating much revenue for the forum, only admin would know that, though click through don't give much conversion in my opinion unless they are better targeted, google is on a winner every time as they generate clicks, not revenue conversation for the advertiser in many cases unless it is coincidence hits.
