Are FDW allowed to get married to EP holders?

Post by movingtospore » Sun, 13 Mar 2011 7:36 pm

OUr maid has announced she wants to get married to an old white guy... figure it's her life and hope it works out, but, will SP let her back in the country if she leaves for her home country, gets married to the guy and then tries to come back as a DP holder? She seems to think she could keep working for us but I'm thinking that's unlikely at best.

Simple answer: No. Needs to get married somewhere else. Old white guy needs to be a bit of a heavy weight in a good company. Then she gets to be a wife with a DP. Otherwise it is a marriage of convenience to get her into the country and likely to be scrutinized.

Well, let me put in nicely .. I have crossed path with a lot of such cases, married but use somebody as a 'sponsor' to stay here ..

My 2 cents advice : release her, and notify MOM (well, not to burn her, but I went through a similar case and it was painful for the next employer - especially when the maid is smart enough to know how to break the law .. )

Of course, she can marry anybody, as long as she is not planning to get Residency here ..

PS: the guy sounds like a lot of smart guys, who can afford to keep their gf as their own maid in permit, but smart enough not to do it .. :D

Come on. It's true love. I'm sure of it. Really.

We'll let her finish her contract with us as she said she was't going to get married until she's done. But after that she's on her own re MOM. Wish her well but that's a headache I don't need.

Do you have a need for a man-servant ?? haha .. me me .. me .. wanna apply :D :D

My headache became a nagging migraine before the contract finished - missing nights, and 'please, let me spend the day with the LOVE ONE (yes, the exact words .. ) etc. etc. and then, we want to go to Malaysia for a weekend of 'private' time ..

As I said - just ask the guy to take her under his wings and the girl will have a reality check :D :D

that, my lord, is My 2 cents worth opinion ..

I think your maid is outsmarting you.....She is smart enough if she can outsmart the MOM people.

Sounds like 99% of all marriages to me. May-June or interracial or otherwise. Each person in a marriage is looking for something from the other, else they wouldn't get married in the first place.

Including Gong Li  Citizenship then divorce comes to mind 2008 to 2010 and she didn't turn up for the first Citizenship ceremony, they made her turn up for the 2nd, that must have been painful. A little celebrity goes a long way, and what's the odds that celebrities have more than one passport ?

Well, isn't it illegal to have more than one citizenship, once you obtain Singapore Citizenship ??? :?

Probably depends on several factors, but not for public consumption. No way of knowing. Pure conjecture - speculation.
