Good bar/pub that has normal prices for wines by the bottle?

Post by aster » Fri, 04 Mar 2011 7:39 pm

Any recommendations?

Just getting tired of paying by the glass or seeing silly prices for an entire bottle. Any tips on pubs with good wine promos by the bottle?

What is a silly price? We used to go pretty often to Wine Garage and found the choice good and the prices for many wines acceptable (range 40-60 per bottle).
And if you go for a free flow champagne brunch (they serve typically wines too) you may easily end up paying for a bottle much less than in retails (the buffet inclusive). As a side effect you may also end up pretty drunk.

Looking more at pub-type places. You can even get decent deals on entire vodka bottles, but wine seems to be difficult to come by at reasonable prices by the bottle.

Heck, in London I recently had a rump steak and bottle of wine for 9.99 GBP. :)

The brunches are nice with free flow of stuff, but still looking at pubs/bars where one can watch sports, etc.

Try Winbos on the corner of Jalan Klapa and Kallang Road.

I was just kidding with reference to the location. :) Was looking for something central, river area, etc. But this does seem like a nice place so I will check them out for their wine deals. Thanks! :)

BEST Happy Hours of $18 for unlimited wine (bubbly too)and Tapas between 6-8pm Monday to Friday
Now that is cheap, SMS take note for our periodic get togethers, we can all be well oiled by 8pm and have an early night :) Just kidding! But a bottle of wine goes a long way if you handcuff me to the table and spoon feed me :P

And they do a buy 2 get one free on bottles of wine, food is good as well.

You might be thinking I know the owners of quite a few bars but I have no financial association with these bars other than being a major sponsor!

$18 for two hours of drinking wine is a very good deal. Looking forward to checking the place out and hopefully not getting banned after my first visit. :)
