So Single, looking to rent a room with a/c hot water, near transport, doesnt eat much else than cheap takeaway food, or pasta if I manage to cook it.... So for the basic essential what's the magic sum for one person???

Single rooms in shared apartments fitting your requirements go as low as S$500, maybe even less if you rent a whole apartment with friends and split the bill. Don't expect luxury, but then again, you don't sound like you need it either.
