Oh ok, nice.

And is it generally accepted that the stuff you good ol boys down there are tokin on is from genetically engineered crops?

I mean
- is the concept of GE weed commonly understood
- is there weed with brand-names like skunk etc.

LOL.. well there are plenty of good ole boys from where I am from.. My wife and I are both pretty liberal and grew up in dusty west Texas where there is a church on every corner.. with a bar right across the St :D

I have never heard the term "GE Weed" before but you can get all kinds... Generally "Skunk" has a few meanings... one is Mexican Skunk Weed.. which is generally bricked and the "lower quality stuff" otherwise known as "Swag" or "Brick weed" or "Mexican Dirt weed" Then there are also plenty of "Name Brand" weed going around as well all over Texas.. You can get "White Widow, Purple Haze, Bubble Gum.. etc" now there was a strain that we would get at times that was hydro.. that the "Brand Name" was "Skunk" because of the very potent weed smell... and it was some fantastic smoke...

I am thinking what you call GE Weed, we would call Hydro.. meaning it was hydroponics.. grown indoors by a very talented grower... and you always feel  after smoking

I suspect that 99% of weed in Europe is grown hydroponically (and most of that by Vietnamese gangs).

Anyway thanks for the the views. Drugs really are not my thing, although I am kinda interested in keeping abreast of 'what the situation is nowadays' as that is the kind of subject you cannot rely on any journalist to explain...

Generally speaking I am a libertarian at heart.. if something you want to do brings no harm to others.. I believe you should be able to do it..

I think that mankind has been doing drugs in one form or another for thousands of years and will continue to do so. Being from Texas we are well aware of the drug wars going on in Mexico and along our border and there have been more deaths related to that than because of the war in Iraq.. In my mind you only have to look at the prohibition era in the United States which gave rise to organized crime and the likes of Al Capone and all the other famous gangsters and put millions of dollars into their pockets.

There have been dozens of studies that show legalization does not lead to an increased use among the public and that crimes related to the drug are drastically reduced. You can look at it this way... I would imagine not all drug dealers are carding their customers to make sure they are a certain age before selling.. However, if legalized you would control the manufacture, distribution, quality, potency etc of the drug. This would decrease the number of deaths from overdosing, or getting something that is not what was promised.

Since we all know that America is drowning in debt it can be taxed and go to fund many social programs, increase pay for teachers, increase education funding etc.. I could go on and on about this topic but will go ahead and shut it off for now :D

JR8!!! Holy H Moly! With a TT, anybody knows this boy be from Texas Tech... in beautiful Lubbock, Texas...

Mac Davis wrote a song, "Happiness is Lubbock, Texas in my rearview mirror".

I think it's a lot of bushwa that pot is getting stronger... this is crap being pushed out by DEA and local law enforcement to justify their DEA funding.

Reality is, you could buy super kick ass weed in the 70's, and you could buy bags of Mexican dirt weed that created a reasonable high. With more grow rooms in the US, there is more of the high quality stuff, but it's not more potent.

Yeah, I hear you. And as I pad away quietly from this conversation will you hear me if I suggest that when you get older you'll look back and see how unnecessary and ultimately destructive drugs are? No one I know in mid-life looks back fondly and misses them (and I have have friends who have siblings killed by Class A drugs)

Go through the phase, the stage, but don't start going on about cradles of civilisation and all the other stuff.

I agree 'Just say no' was one of the most moronic liberal pieces of crap policy you could ever dream up even in a parody of serious policy. I'm libertarian too.... Just Say Yes! Jeez the outcome couldn't have been worse! :)

p.s. Power To The People! 8-)

:D I was wondering how long it would be before someone picked up on the TT. (Double T) and yes, born and raised in Lubbock Tx, and then later in Houston.. Then back to Lubbock for College... Mac Davis.. It is a great song.. however you forgot to add that at the end of the song... Happiness is Lubbock Tx... growing nearer and nearer :)

Also Buddy Holly is from Lubbock, my barber growing up was his barber back in the good ole days..

I beg your pardon but if it is not at least 500 years old how can we colonials be expected to recognise it?

Think what you like but there is no doubt skunk is stronger since the process used to produce it enhances it.

Ask the experts. Skunk is crappy stuff compared to pure resin. In fact all the shit you are buying is pure sucidie crap....though i don't suppose many chemists are taking it..Pure resin will set you back $30 a gram

My experience with mary j was when i was 15, SGD 8.00 Buddha sticks, bought 20 sticks and would shake off for my daily ration, then there was the upp johns, eramin, heroin. Used to roll joints and head off to Brannigans.

chasing the dragon..... had to be creative thinking of bongs to create...

In Thailand, man the shit would be still damp when you got it, 20 bucks would be ration for 20 guys / gals for a whole day... Those were the days my friend.....
