Thankfully the HR personnel agreed to come with me to MOM.
let me give you my 2 cents opinion :D

If your company needs you and they have employed foreigners in the past, they will know what to do ..

As for the personal appeal, unless your company writes a letter saying without you, the company will close down or something like that, the duty officer will take your application and still put it into the normal process .. :D
ecureilx, I appreciate your honestly and I think this is what i need right now. My fear only is that i might harm my appeal because of going to MOM personally with the HR personnel. Just looking for ways to get my appeal approved by MOM the soonest. At the end of the day, I don't want to tell to myself that I did not do my part in with regards to this.

it is your employer's part that matters .. I know, scores of people ask for ways to 'fix' the ep etc, but for MOM, it is the employer who is the interface ..

I worked for companies, when the pass got rejected, the HR was clueless, and as I was deemed to have more experience i had to draft out the appeal letter and then prepare the copy of the ROC etc. and walk to MOM .. and heck, in that company - for every new candidate, I was the one drafting the love letter for MOM .. the HR manager just signed and chopped it .. and gave me the details of the turnover etc for me to fill it in ..

And I have done my time with larger companies who frown on employees who try to teach the HR a thing or two .. there's no one size fit all ..

cheers mate ..

that's what keeping me more anxious. Because i don't know the capability of the HR personnel who's working on my appeal to MOM. Because she's new and the company is also new. I wish to feed her information on what I can get out from this forum.

By the way, can anyone give me give me a sample template appeal letter to MOM?

Yah, but make sure she says she needs help, because, if there is one group of people who I would not want to piss in any company - it is the HR/Admin people .. :D :D

Or something like that - you get the point ??

Just a simple worded letter would do, and submission of some projects which need your expertise would add weight ..

I have met dense people and I have met denser people :D :D

If she managed to take the essense, she is one smart lady in HR .. comparing with majority of the HR / Admin people (ooops .. did I say anything ??)

Good luck mate..

Hi Jmondejar,

Good day to you. I need your help, my wife is currently experiencing the same situation. Her pass application was rejected recently and we suspect that its because she was not allowed to enter Singapore back in 2009.

what happened was she was holding a social visit pass before, then after she left Singapore, a company contacted her & wanted to arrange a interview. So she returned back to Singapore in less than 10 days, but the ICA officer did not let her in, they said she visits singapore too frequently beacuse they also saw in her passport that we recently took a trip to Malaysia. I think they suspect alot on filipinas travelling in the budget terminal.

You mentioned that you have appealed to ICA & then they gave you a letter after that you were able to go back to singapore evry week. Then your ban was lifted. i am currently holding a EP. How do we apply for this appeal to lift the ban? really need your help.

Hope you will have time to reply. Thank you.

jmondejar wrote:Hi, I'm from Philippines and I was once Prohibited to enter Singapore last July 2010. The reason for me being prohibited is because at that time I just resigned from my previous company in Kuala Lumpur and was moving to another company in Kuala Lumpur as well. So my Visa from my previous company that time was just cancelled and I was informed by my new company that it will take them 1 week to process my new Visa. So bored in KL, I took a bus to visit my then fiancee who's also from Philippines working in Singapore. When I reach SG immigration I was hold and was prohibited to enter because my visa was already cancelled. I try to explain the matter but to no avail, so I was sent back to KL.

After I got my Malaysia working Visa in the new company I tried to go back to SG knowing that with the new visa that was already stickered in my passport, I will be able to enter SG already to visit my fiancee. But little that I know since I was once prohibited to enter in SG, my immigration status is "BAN" and I'm not able to enter SG without the ICA lifting that ban. So again I was sent back to KL on August 2010.

So we appealed to ICA right away with the help of my FIlipina fiance working in SG. The first appeal, we we're denied. So we appealed again and finally got our Approval to Enter Singapore, thus lifting of my ban on January 14, 2011 just couple of weeks before our wedding.

So since Feb 5, every weekend I'm now able to enter SG (ofcourse everytime I enter SG I'm always being interrogated by rude looking and rude acting immigration officers for half an hour or so), but once I showed them the ICA letter and tell them that I'm visiting my wife (showing a photocopy of her EP card), they let me enter SG.

Now here's my situation. I got an offer from an Software company as a Project Manager in Singapore. I was quite worried that my EP might not be approved because I was prohibited to enter SG last year. Please let me know the answer to the following:
1. What will be my chance of my EP getting approved by MOM given that I was prohibited to enter Singapore before.
2. In the EP Form there is a checkbox questionaire there asking "Have you ever been prohibited in Entering SG. Give the details
2.1 With this question, should I answer No since my ban is already lifted anyway?
2.2 If I a answer Yes, what sort of details do I need to give with regards to me being prohibited in entering Singapore before that would increase my chance of my EP getting approved.

Thank you very much for anyone who will take time in answering this question. I posted my "boring" story online so that my story would somehow help other people know how to deal with things like this. I know I made a mistake of entering SG before, without first waiting for the Malaysian Working visa from my new company, but that is a lesson I already learned and a lesson I want to share to other individuals (so please don't judge me guys). Again thanks.

I think your case is different from his .. as you are married. And it is your wife who has problems.

The right process would be to apply for an DP for your wife, and along with the approval - enter Singapore.

And in the case of the OP, he had issues, and I may be wrong, but in the BT, I have seen ICA specifically question females more than males, though I have seen males too held back

Ecureilx, that was actually my plan, to apply a DP for my wife. But unfortunately i think my salary will be below their requirements, i heard recently that the required salary was raised in accordance with the new EP salary. Im still w my current employer & i doubt that they will give me a raise just to meet the DP requirement. one way is to find a new company that will give enough salary.

well my wife's S-Pass application was rejected, & the appeal was rejected too just yesterday so we are really having a hard time figuring out what's the problem.

i'll try to ask the HR of the company to make a personal appeal, as it worked for jmondejar.

but whats really disturbing is when the MD of the company tried to call his friend from MOM to inquire why it was rejected, the frend from MOM said my wife has a "bad record" & that she was issued an employment pass b4 but MOM cancelled it coz she was working outside of the employment scope. which is total rubbish! :(

currently she is in the philippines, she has never worked in singapore b4, although 2 years ago we came here together as tourists but never worked. Can this be a case of fraud or mistaken identity? ofcouse what the frend from MOM said is not official because it is illegal to disclose any information from the inside.

what should we do? i really dont know what else to do. i know MOM will not give the real reasons why the pass was rejected. & i cannot come to my embassy & complain about unofficial stories from inside MOM. its really really frustrating not to mention heartbreaking. i miss my wife so much. maybe its time to give up & just return back home :'(
