Short Term in Dhoby Ghaut

Post by nycguyrelocate » Sat, 26 Feb 2011 4:22 am

Hi Forum,

I am a New Yorker who will be moving to Singapore to start a new job in May. I am trying to figure out living situations. My friends tell me I should look at areas near Somerset, Dhoby Ghaut, and Robertson Quay. My budget is appx S$3000, although I can be quite flexible and do not want to lock myself in.

I want to get a serviced apt or a short term apt for April and then find a lease to start on 05/01. The difficulty is that most serviced apts are too nice and the bottom end charges S$4000 (which is my hard max limit for the serviced apt and definitely over limit on a lease). I am a 26-year-old single guy and happy with either a one bed or studio. I just want to hit the ground running in terms of services (internet, water, elec) but I don't necessarily need all the luxury up front.

Does anyone have any ideas or places I should look? Have not found much at all on craigslist and gumtree.

Thanks much,
Mark
