Talking to small children about moving

Post by Jobo » Wed, 23 Feb 2011 10:27 am

Hi. I was just wondering if anyone had any good tips for parents talking to small children about a big move. How did you tell your kids? mine are 4 and 2 1/2. I'm more concerned about the 4 yr old since the other one is so young and tends to go with the flow. We are moving from the US to Singapore in July, but because there is so much to do in the meantime, I want to talk to them sooner than later. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

How do they handle vacations? If okay, should be a problem. Children are much more adaptable that adults and tend to make friends a lot easier (provided the parents let them). Just tell 'em that it's a job and it's an adventure. Try not to make a big to do about it and try not to convey your own apprehensions to them as well. You'll be okay.
