Weekend Travel

Post by Lizat80 » Tue, 22 Feb 2011 4:33 pm

Hi!

I just moved to Singapore from the US about a week ago and I'm dying to travel around Asia...never been out here before! I don't have a ton of vacation but should easily be able to do a weekend trip or maybe take a friday off too for a long weekend.

When traveling I like to really see what the area is all about...food, culture, local activities...I'm just up for new experiences. :) So if anyone has suggestions or are interested in traveling (or even have some trips planned where you wouldn't mind having 1 more join), let me know!

Cheers,
-Liza

Hey Liza,

perhaps you could start to explore Chinatown (to know about Chinese culture), Little India (to know about India culture), Arab Street and Geylang (to know about Malay and Moeslem culture).

Furthermore you could visit NHB museum such as National Museum, Peranakan Museum, etc. Sometimes they have open house events (free entry, :D).

Hi Liza,

I am currently planning a trip to Bromo in Indonesia for May 13-17. Since the 17th is a bank holiday only one day (16th) of annual leave is required. It is primarily a hiking trip with one afternoon of rafting - I can give you more details on request. If you are interested let me know ASAP as anxious to book flights before prices escalate. Cost is approx $760 each including flights.

I am a 32yr old female, have been in Singapore since summer and this will be my second trip to Indonesia.

Thanks,
AC

Interesting things to do at Singapore

Post by marionlgy » Tue, 15 Mar 2011 3:19 pm

The interesting things to do at Singapore are:

Singapore prefer to remain awake all night as the residents like to party till the wee hours of the morning at the discos and the pubs that play jazz/ rock/pop songs that would compel you to shake a leg with the rest of the crowd.

For shop alcoholics Orchard Road is the best place to be and shopping at this place is going to be an experience that you would treasure for the rest of your life.

Dine at the most reputed restaurants and pamper your taste buds by opting for restaurants that serve excellent sea - food or international cuisine or Chinese cuisine.

Check out the multiplexes for a movie or the theaters for a musical play or other kinds of plays.

Pump in your adrenalin by opting for various adventure sports such as the sky-ride or opt to drive the Sentosa Luge. Make use of the golfing facilities if you are associated with this sport or just fond of it.
