Regarding criminal record

Post by mmouse » Fri, 18 Feb 2011 2:24 pm

I have a criminal record for shoplifting from 2008 in UK, i was fined only with no sentence. Does anyone now if it will prevent me from obtaining long stay visa or as a dependent on my partners EP?
Your help will be appreciated
Thanks!

In a country that is border to border shopping malls? :o

Frankly, I don't know. I know we hire ex-cons as long as they don't have records for theft or burglary but they are locals. I've never tried with foreigners so don't have any anecdotal or 1st hand evidence. Maybe Mad Scientist has some info.
