FORMING A BAND

Post by diurach » Thu, 17 Feb 2011 1:58 pm

Hi there,

I am looking for musicians to form a band. I am from the UK, 36 years old and have been in Sg just over 5 years. I have been playing in a covers duo and doing solo originals, but would like to put together a full band to write and play original material.

I would be lead singer and rhythm guitar and have a mid-20's Aussie mate who is keen to play drums. We are kind of indie-types, but with a wider range of musical taste and rather than set a tone for the band from the off we would rather jam out some stuff and let the group find a direction together. I also play violin and mandola - if they fit into anything we write, great, but I don't intend to force them into the lineup!!!

I have a heap of songs already written, some of which may fit the lineup, but if not I don't mind - as long as we can create something together!

We are looking for a bassist, a lead guitarist and possibly a keyboardist. Being able to sing backup would be a huge bonus! Local or expat, whatever your race or gender, it's all good. We would prefer people between the ages of 25 and 40, but will be flexible...

If you are interested please drop me a private message with your email address.

Cheers!

Hey,

Interested in joining, but somehow couldnt send a private message over.

Lil' bit about me - foreigner from Malaysia, going 25 this year, plays piano/keyboard & sings. Had a band running for a while sometime before.

Drop me a pm to set up like an audition if you think that this is fine.

Thanks!

Sorry can't send any pm-s yet with my account. What kinda music do you listen to?

I love all sorts of music, from jazz to hiphop - you name it. Just a little more reserved with Metal but any other is really fine.

Hi there ! I just arrived in Singapore a week ago. I'm playing the trumpet. Keen on jazz, funk would be really cool. Keep me updated.
Indeed we need a drummer, would be easier, ad also a place to take the rehearsal right ?
Cheers

If anyone's keen on having a jam session, Echo Loft in Chinatown runs monthly art salons, might be a nice chance to see if any of us click musically. There's Actor's Bar as well, but it could be trickier to get a chance on stage.

I play guitar and bass, mostly folksy or 90's rock sounding stuff.

Yeah, it's not on the program but at the end of the night they open the stage to anyone wanting to jam.

We could always book a practice studio, Scape Warehouse looks like it has some good ones...or go full acoustic and jam outdoors!

Hey all, is anyone here still looking for people to jam with? Just moved to Singapore a few months ago and finally got my guitar shipped over. I tend toward more indie or acoustic stuff, but happy to play whatever with some cool people. I used to jam with a regular group and we'd play everything from modern stuff to classic rock to punk to blues.

Funny enough, I was planning on going to this month's Echo Loft event. Cool to see that people can also play music there!
