That's exactly where the Singapore Tourism Board can help you, e.g. by placing a link on their sites or adding you to tourist brochures, etc.

I'll send you a PM with my contact details (posting here will only attract SPAM).

Whilst you seem to have good intentions you also sound a bit wet behind the ears. Im not sure tourists would want to connect with you without knowing your not some tyype of criminal leading them to get robbed or to a back street vendors for kickbacks etc. So your going to need a plan to get around this problem. If you cant join an established group you should try and get some endorsement from some reputable organisation or at least start with locals or backpackers etc who could endorse your experience and yourself through a website. Also need to do a lot of work to make this experience interesting and different which Im sure you can put your mind to. good luck

Dear Frank,

I already received you email address and drop you a email.
I also considering to contact with Singapore Tourism Board, but i think before contact with them, i should have some base first, for example, i already do some free guide several times and found that is a very good effect, then maybe i can contact with them, otherwise, maybe they will suspect my sincerity.

Guides Singapore professional development programme.

Tourist board:
The website shows a certificate error, though just accept like i did and you will get information on getting a licence and the courses available.

There are many business opportunities in the tourism trade and guides will be always wanted, specialising in mother tongue, not just English will be an advantage in developing your niche...specialising will add value, be it history, New development, speciality hawker foods and recipes handed down from families.

There are even the business women/men, that often drop into Singapore that need entertainment, and relaxation, so hook up with spa's clubs and such, will earn you $, if you can deliver a group for example.

Identify your target market and make a daily itinerary online so people can sign up to your tours, even if it is only 1 day a month, make it available online and get noticed through the tourism office with a licence.

I don't know what the figure is these days but it used to be that visitors stayed an average of 2.5 days.

I think there is definitely a market for people with such little time to be guided around, rather than them having to do all the legwork of deciding where to go and how to get there.

It was up to 3.5 days before the IR's opened. Now it might be less after they visit the IR's and get fleeced!

Just an encouragement, hope it doesn't classify as advertisement..
Last Dec, I made a trip to Bali, REAL last minute, and I had no clue
what so ever, all that I did was GOOGLE...and I found this:-

http://www.balitourguide.net/

Being the Tourist, I was very skeptic, but the content and the way this guy presented himself on the Internet, really convinced me to pick up the phone and call him and I engaged him. Purely on trust....BUT there was something else that really convinced me, which was the evident testimonials; not on his web site, but on Facebook. Real people, Real pictures, Real experiences...

You get the idea? EVIDENCE is key, If you are serious...and I loved his knowledge about the place. Of course he is native, but in more ways than one, He got his act right.

No not really, though if you have anything of value to offer, then it would be the wisest choice, credability goes a long way.....most websites lure there consumers with freebies all the time. You can still be a freebie with a licence, it is much more secure for consumers to know that you are regulated and you would be offering them piece of mind, imagine if you wanted to dump your boring employment and start doing the guiding full time, good preparation and planning delays much time wasted.

So I'm saying it all depends and your long term goals which you have not yet set, in the short term you are just wanting to offer a free service to meet people who are interested, if your interest is serious your, credibility with a licence will garner exposure and feedback.

Also look at the worst scenarios, you come up with an idea, and someone will copy it and turn it into a profitable business. As i say it's all about turning a hobby into a life long dream of doing something you are happy doing and making a living.

Ask yourself why you wanted to do this in the first place? Only you have the answer, I'm the key to your subconscious  giving you alternatives to consider if you do it do it right, make a time table of events to cover the whole day, half day or by the hour.

Your sharing is really very importance for me. To me, i really lack of Evidence, because when i generate this idea one and half year ago, i even feel shy to talk my thought to my friend, i am worry someone will laugh at me. some of them did laught at me. So when i receive the encourage from any friend like you, i always feel appreciate.

I think i still have a lot to do. I just setup a website, althought it is very very simple, so simple only have one sentence, i still feel excited about it. It means finally i took some action.

your referred website is a very good website, it will my example for my future hard work direction. I still have a lot to do, web development ( i am totally new in web design), materially preparation...but i believe it will be a happy journey for myself.
