Best iPhone app for bus/transport times/routes/maps?

Post by aster » Mon, 14 Feb 2011 2:12 am

There seems to be a ton of them available in the AppStore, so just thought I'd ask you guys which one(s) you use.

Most are free so I will be giving them a go throughout the week, but if there's a paid one that's well worth it then I have no qualms about a one-off spend of a few bucks.

For reference for Android users, I use SG Buses and SBS next bus, available from the Market, both for free. The interfaces could use some rethinking but they're functional.

SGBuses and SGNextBus both are good. I guess they plug into the same web service to get route timings.

I personally use "ShowNearby" which is good enough

Actually, it can. The only problem is you have to let the app first figure out where you are, which depends on your data connection or GPS signal or how fast you swipe and zoom your map to your location.

I'm finding that the StreetDirectory app is quite useful for bus timings.

I also have bus@sg but for some reason it's not working today for me.

Having tried the SG NextBus app I think I'll stick to StreetDirectory.

From my experience in the last few days you might as well install all three of the apps mentioned because in the mornings I often have trouble getting times with 2/3 of them. They all seem to randomly time-out, probably due to too many users trying to get their bus times simultaneously...
