How much money in SGD I can bring into Singapore?

Post by arvchira » Sun, 13 Feb 2011 2:10 pm

First of all, thank you for your feedbacks especially SMS :-) I just got my EP approved and will move to Singapore in early April.

I have 2 questions about moving there;

1) How much cash in SGD I can take into Singapore?

2) How can I open bank account there (i.e. with UOB)?

There's no set limit as to how much money you can take into Singapore. However, if you take S$30,000 or more in cash into Singapore (or its equivalent in any other currency), you'll need to declare it when entering Singapore. There's a customs/police counter from which you can collect a form.

Waltz into any bank with your passport, EP approval (some banks may require you to wait till the EP is issued), contact address & Phone number and of course, a minimum of $1000 or some banks only require $500 to open up a savings account (like POSB).
