How to decide whether to rent or buy an apt in Singapore?

Post by akkudoo » Thu, 10 Feb 2011 3:13 pm

Hi all,

I found this calculator online and thought of sharing it with you. The calculator helps you to decide whether its worth to continue renting here or worth to buy a house. For buying, the tool shows some comparison of effect between if you buy now or buy later..

Cheers!

Of course it was. That, or they are a real estate agent and looking to find a convoluted method of soliciting for business here. Unfortunately, I haven't found it yet but as soon as I do, they will be history. Registered in 2007, made two posts and hasn't been back since. Four years later makes two more posts only to post to a link like that without an ulterior motive? As soon as they reveal themselves.........

Actually, it's a advertising scam because if you click the "Bookmark Us" button, it will actually place a bookmark for PHP Tutorial classes and not the calculator. You need to use the browser toolbar bookmark function to just bookmark the page itself. It's a sneaky way of spam linking as when you click the created bookmark (because you were wondering where it came from) the poster just got a clickthrough.

scam? did you even try out the tool?

Post by akkudoo » Mon, 14 Feb 2011 11:56 am

Hi,
Am a fellow expat who arrived at singapore in 2005. found this forum while looking for a job in 2007 and hence the account registration date.

I did'nt do the website nor do I own it. It was done by another fellow expat who happened to be looking for a property a few months back and made it for himself. Using it he figured that it was not worth buying now as his exit time is too soon and prices are at historic highs.

Myself and many others found it interesting and hence he put it up online so that it could be shared with others. I just helped spread the word. As you can see, even the domain is a free one! No one is making money here...except probably few cents yearly from the google ads.

The bookmarks thing was probably a careless mistake...I have let him know of it.

It is unfortunate that the moderator has found it to be some great ripoff scam....and is waiting to "make them history" with a "tic toc tic toc wait" as if it were a hitchcock movie!!.

guys, thats not a good way of showing appreciation for a good intend.

It is interesting that people find such small mistakes, but fail to see any use from the tool itself! I wonder why some one tried to bookmark if they didnt find the tool to be useful?

dont blame the moderators as they are just being cautious as there are alot of ppl who come here and try to advertise in all the wrong sections...
