I'm not sure that anyone even knew NZ was on a fault line until the first quakes although I agree that they should have had contingency plans.
I agree that smaller countries should be encouraged to be more involved.
Maybe we will see it happening in the future.

Did anyone else see Italy v France?
Holy mackerel what an edge-of-seat stupendously exciting game!
Unbelievable to see them beat France 22 - 21 off a penalty five minutes from time!
Wow!!!
p.s. So all bets are off for them v Scotland next weekend.

Watched every minute. Brilliant and a well deserved win.
If the Azzuris had done just done a bit more in their 1st 2 games they would be 2nd or 3rd in the table now.
They are improving every year and I would expect them to beat 2 or maybe 3 of the other nations next year.

Yes you're right, they are improving every year and it is fantastic to see and enjoy.
Sheer joy (as long as they never beat England lol

totally agree. Good reason to add the Pumas into a tournament as well!

Italy France way better that England Scotland game!
Oh well. A win is a win I suppose however ugly it is!
Grand slam would be great now. last time was 2003 and we all know what happened in the world cup that year as well!

For fox sake, that was a dysfunctional game (Eng v Sco)! I thought the grand-slam was just waiting but after that performance it's wide open again...
Still, it looks like unless Wales completely crucify France, that we'll win the championship on points difference. Touch wood.

Everything about it was odd including the ref going off with calf problems.
Irish will be out to stop us big time now.

Yes. Playing for the grand-slam v Ireland on their home-turf on St. Patricks Day 'weekend'.
Today's game seems to line the next one up as almost the perfect cliff-hanger.

Did you see that England team share 500k GBP if they win Grand Slam? Didn't look THAT motivated against Scotland. You expect a lot more hanging onto the ball for that kind of dosh!
I think I'll have to head to a bar for the game next week rather than watch at home.

Quite, this was a point I made to my wife, I mean shouldn't they be super-motivated? that was why it was so strange that they went in rather 'random and half-hearted'.
A bar might be the place to watch it, as I think it is gonna be a big one!

I'm thinking Irish bar in England jersey - bit risky but worth it if we win. Just need the Welsh to get stuffed by France (no guarantee there with Levremont being so fickle) and we win whatever we do against Ireland.

I find the points table a little hard to interpret, and it's workings are not explained.
http://www.rfu.com/FixturesAndResults/V ... tions.aspx
Presumably you get 2 points for a win, and nothing (?) for anything else. We're on 8pts and Wales next on 6pts. So if we lost and Wales beat France that would put us on 8pts each. I understand it then goes to point difference. We are already a net 42 points ahead of Wales.
If the above logic holds you;ll understand my earlier post about Wales needing to whip France in order for us to lose the championship.
Feel free to correct me if I have it wrong!

Your maths is impeccable. Wales would have to give France a good pasting. Not likely.
Would prefer the Grand Slam though!

Ah ok, I thought I'd got the wrong end of the stick somewhere. For some reason going for the grand slam has always figured larger than winning on points difference, hence the points table being a thing I rarely look at.
Yes it would be great if we win. Kind of a good place for Martin Johnson to have got to as coach. The way they played that last first half though leaves me rather worried!
As you said earlier, with a £500k team bonus riding on it, you would think it would put a bit of extra fire in their bellies!
