All the guys who have children playing rugby at Centaurs and Tanglin wrote to MIO and Starhub. I have just had this note from the head of Centaurs rugby club........
Hi all,
FYI - From Setanta:
We are pleased to announce that Setanta programming will be available on the StarHub TV platform. Due to licensing permits taking time to be approved in Singapore, an interim solution has been agreed in that our channel content such as RBS 6 Nations & Super Rugby will be available on the StarHub sports channels.
More details on this coming very soon but rest assured you will be able to watch Rugby in Singapore starting this weekend – please check our website for updates.
I hear that Setanta are likely to get RWC rights too but nothing announced yet.

This is the first place I usually hit for sports as they have $9 pints until 9PM. I'm not the biggest rugby fan but I have noticed that they show tons of it. Luckily you can also watch F1 and EPL there, and they put on the sound (which is important!).
Some so-called "sportsbars" will show the picture but put on music in the background...

Good pub but bit small for big events.

I thought the OP was asking for a place to watch the games, not events? Unless you are referring to the games as the big events... Even so, that bar is a great venue for live games, and I have seen huge crowds there for the AFL grand final day and previous years 6 nations. Great atmosphere!

I had a rugby frenzy this weekend with all the games on Starhub.
Not particularly impressed with any of the wins though. All the northern hemisphere teams have gone to improve their games before the world cup.
Congratulations to Johnny Wilkinson become the worlds highest scorer of points in International rugby!

I watched both of Saturday's games and found them equally exciting.
I use a free Virtual Private Network called ExpatShield that gives me a UK ip address, and allows me to use the BBC iPlayer, and ITV, C4 equivalent.
Bring on the English grand-slam!

Would I be too optimistic to think Grand Slam and then World Cup?
I understand the stadium in Christchurch was flattened by the earthquake. There were going to be some quarter/semi final games there.
(Clearly not as important as the dreadful loss of life

but will be an issue for the World Cup)

The award to NZ was 'inside job' back scratching. It really should have gone to a country that could have developed the game internationally. Like say Japan.

Totally agree.
The Aussies are now suggesting that some of the games should be played in Sydney due to lack of other venues in NZ to host Christchurch games - they could have at least waited a decent time for mourning before trying to steal the revenue!

They may have a point though although I am sure the Kiwi's will do their utmost to make sure they have a replacement stadium in time.
Whatever happens, it is shaping up to be a cracking World Cup.

One would like to think that in their 'business continuity', or 'disaster recovery' planning they had already considered the risk of one stadium being unavailable.
I also hope that it is a good WC. But I would really like to start seeing it hosted by some of the small and later-comers to the game.
