Six Nations rugby

Post by icehockeyhair » Sun, 30 Jan 2011 10:32 pm

I'm new to Singapore and wondering if anyone knows of anywhere to watch the forthcoming Six Nations rugby matches?

Cheers!

It's been a while since I've been on here but I logged back in to try and get an answer to the same question.

It seems Setanta Asia have the rights, as they did last year. However, they still do not have channel in SG. It was meant to go on air on January 11 but hasn't and is not available on Mio or Starhub, only on Setanta i (online). It's largely a waste of time getting this (in my opinion) because the standard internet connection speeds here are so poor that it doesn't work well.

I'm assuming because of financial situation of Setanta they have decided to delay launch of the channel and will sell rights to another station (hopefully Super Sports like last year). SS only announced that they had rights two days before the start in 2010, so fingers crossed. If they get it, you should be able to watch it at home or at plenty of bars around town.

If not, the only place to watch it will be somewhere with a reliable slingbox. O'Bamas is probably the only reliable place if that's the case, although Boomarang may show it if they decide their slingbox is working, which seems to depend on who you talk to on the night...

Anyone else got any info on it?

Last season some of us went to Obama's Irish Pub to watch the games. They pretty much show all the matches of the six nations even when they clash with the soccer matches.

Agreed, O'Bama's will show pretty much anything you ask them to, Heineken Cup and Magner's League included.

Can't beat Muddy Murphy's for some atmosphere though, especially for Ireland v England on Paddy's Day weekend. But I think they'll only show it if Singapore tv gets the rights.

One minor update - TV5 Asia is showing the French games live and is on Starhub so that's 1/3 of them covered and all the better if you're French.

Help! I'm living in the east like across east coast park actually; does anyone know where I can watch it? I know harry's has 4 outlets specifically that'll be showing the games. But they're around the clarke quay area. I checked with scruffy murphys too but they told me that they couldn't confirm anything cause it depended on the tv station and anyway their website said that they'd be showing bpl at 11...):

abc - try Blooies or Dog 'n' Bone in the East (Siglap).

For a bigger experience go to Chijmes in town off Bras Basah.

This is pretty damn ridiculous. We checked out a few different pubs and were informed by one that starhub had not bought the 6 nations games so we won't get to watch it in sg!

I had't realised that it was not possible for anyone to show it due to the way the rights were sold in UK.

People in the office are talking about having to stream it through P@P sites.

The one people are using is http://myp2p.eu

Guys,

After spending an hour or so looking around various websites in the early hours of Saturday morning (mostly for rugby), I managed to watch the England v Wales game on the i-setanta website. Initially I didn't realise that you could alter the picture quality settings and it spent more time buffering than playing but if you change to 'normal quality' rather than 'high quality' you can watch it pretty much uninterrupted. The 'normal quality' was pretty good too, nice smooth picture on a 13" Macbook. And you get the English commentary.......Brian Moore with his unfaltering patriotism...!!

Or you could go to a bar in town and watch it of course.......

Went to Obama's for the Ireland game .......

Somewhat strangely the management must not have been expecting many folk to go to an Irish bar to watch the Ireland game as they only had a couple of people serving drinks, they didnt seem the happiest bar staff either.
Life is short, paddle harder!!
