learn to appreciate others...

Post by not_isaac » Thu, 10 Mar 2011 6:36 pm

hey guys

let's be fair to the recruitment team - regardless they're from finnair or adecco. i think they have done their best in ensuring that all the candidates have a equal chance and that the application process was a smooth one.

ask yourself... if you apply with the other MAJOR LOCAL airline, do you even have a number to call when you're in doubts? do they even bother to pre arrange the interview sessions with you so that the waiting time is short? do the staff even asked if you wanted some water while you wait for your turn during the management round? do they provide bottled water for you onsite while you go for the swimming test? this is a fair interview! if you dont get it, learn from experience and do better the next time round :) while you complain about the waste of your precious time for having the need to attend the swimming test... what about the staff who stood in the sun to encourage and assure the many other candidates? yes.. its their job... but they are certainly NOT obliged to do all the extra stuff.

essentially, a cabin crew is a service provider. learn to be nice to people and start saying Please, Sorry and Thank you-s. because this a requirement of the job.

think about it?

I didnt get the job, but I agree with what you have said. They even nannied the interviewees by printing out the ppt slides for them to read when it should have been if-you-want-the-job-bad-enough,-you-jolly-well-do-your-homework-in-advance! -..-"

But I do understand the frustration: if there was already a shortlist from the final interview, Adecco coulda simply just asked those 'successful' to attend and coulda save themselve some headache of organising the swimming test due to the 'inflated' numbers, no?

Side track a bit, why the nick not_isaac? I vaguely recall there is a guy whose name is that at the pool. >.<

BA recruitment is by BA themselves, the interviewers are frm BA not by any third parties. This is only hear-say tat there will be an up coming interview but not confirmed.
They usually advertised in the papers for recruitments. I have been to their last interview and it was way back in 2008. Coze their turnover rate is very very low, they seldom do recruitments :)

How many got in?

Post by Hopeful guy » Sat, 12 Mar 2011 1:57 pm

Congrats to those who made it... So anyone knows how many got in?

The last time i was told they are looking at 53... so for this round, if less than that got in, there's a possibility of another recruitment in times to come until that nbr is reached for SIN base.

And each time there will only be 3 SIN crew onboard each flight. The other crews will be made up of mainly from other nationalities from different countries... isnt that exciting?

Can someone update us on how the swimming test was conducted? ANy ditching (jump from some platform into the pool) invovled?

I didnt get invited for the interview... stopped at the med questionaire part...I'm fit but didn't move forward from that stage.

I shall still keep hoping... hopefully opportunity knocks on my door once again. :D

At the meantime, i will con't working with my current airline.. Do keep all of us updated on ur training and future flight experiences. :)

Hello all!
Does anyone have any idea of the criteria Finnair has for scoliosis?
I'm sure all airlines have a certain criteria for scoliosis but I heard foreign airlines are slightly more lenient as compared to airlines like SQ..

Unite the cabin crew union has only just ended a long running dispute with BA over staff numbers amongst other issues;
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-13374580. While I don't know the full details you may well find what you heard is a myth, the moral is go find out yourself. Either way expect the test for Mandarin to be severe; a good many posting here at the time of the last recruitment failed. The impression I have is you need good Mandarin skills (written and spoken) as a permanent feature and not just a rudimentary knowledge and ability.
