That completely depends on the client. If the client doesn't want you and HCL doesn't have any exactly matching open position, then they will let you go. In fact that can happen even during the contract. They give you the notice and out you go.
However, considering their big presence in India you should be able to get a relocation back to India.

In any case and on a general note, since this is a forum, it would be better to post questions and answers here, for the benefit of all readers.

Agree! However can't detail more information about the employer/Employment.
Hope that "Be careful what you wish for" is part of your signature

OK, so why can't you post your relevant information and/or ask your question(s) here on the forum?
And yes, "Be careful what you wish for"
is my signature. It seems to become more topical every day.

I worked at their Tampines back office few years back. It was terrible. The local employees treated the contract staff like coolies. Most of use were poorly paid, yet expected to work 24*7 and all the blame always fell on the contract staff. However all recognition, awards, bonuses went to the supervisors.
One of the worst was my supervisor's manager, an absolute she-devil. Once after pulling an allnighter to fix an issue, i left at 6 am and at around 10 am i got a call as a new unrelated system issue had popped up on another server in the morning and there was no one to fix the issue. I reached back at around 11:30 still half sleepy and the b***h yells at me for being late. I tell her about the late night problem but she won't listen. On top of it she tells me to learn "work ethcis from the indian construction workers" at a nearby construction site. Guess thats how she expected all her contract staff to work.
I wasn't the only lucky one to earn her favor. One of my colleagues was terminated when she requested for maternity leave. She was 7 months pregnant at the time. Reason given was poor performance. Another female colleague was told to stay at home and do housework as her "maid was more capable" than her.
Attrition for contract staff was quite high. Not may people I knew stayed there beyond 3 years. Most left after completing their contract of 1 or 2 years.
I've worked as a contract employee for other MNC clients and the difference in attitude of the staff was quite stark.

The offer is good if that is what you are worth. It's bad if you are worth more than that. As to contract or permanent - what ever floats yer boat. They can terminate you just as easy either way. The only benefit of a contract is you can work out your contract and leave without giving notice (but if you stay after your contract is finished, you will have to give notice then). Otherwise, 6 of one/ half dozen of the other.

According to the 2013-2014 Kelly Salary Guide from $4~$7,000/mo. Again, there are other variables other than 6.5 years of experience. If you are from China you won't have the same offer that you would get if you were from the UK or Aus. Sucks, but there it is. It's looks like your offer is in the middle of the spread though.
