Depends - do you have a 300 a day coke habit or are you more of a stay at home watching tv kind of guy? Do you eat at the best restaurants or are you happy cooking at home or eating at the food court?

How long is a piece of string?

Im trying to curb that habit before I come out!

Not inot all the fancy restaurants etc eating out a bit few beers a month - nothing to excessive at all - just have no clue really of the $ and how far it stretches as I hear its expensive for many things so just want to ensure that 6K will be ok a month to live off.

In that case 6K is plenty and you should be able to save quite a lot of money too, the only really expensive thing is booze but if you don't go crazy and just have a big night out once a week (as opposed to 3-4 times a week as some people do) then it's not too restrictive. Think $12-15 for a pint of beer in a bar here and that gives you an idea of the expense of alcohol here, although if you drink bottles in the food court it's less than half of that (if you don't mind sitting and drinking in a non-aircon food court surrounded by all the old uncles and aunties). If you wanted to go and have some western food (and I mean decent western food, not the crap they serve in the hawker centres) then you're looking at maybe $50-100 per person depending on where you go, so again if you did that a couple of times a week you'd still not be spending anywhere near 6K.

I'm assuming your rent and everything is already taken care of so the 6K is just your disposable income, if so then you'll be very comfortable

Did you really mean you are trying to curb the 'coke' habit ?? :D :D or did I hear wrongly - lost in translation ?? haha ..

Well, you can live comfortably, as others mentioned as long as you don't demand a bungalow house, or private apartment - as so - you could end up forking out your salary and more just for rental

Cheers

I believe the OP said 'after' rent, so the type of housing is irrelevant. However some bills are associated with the size of your residence, so that should be factored in. But agin, HLIAPO?

Not nearly enough information to weigh in at this point. If it's 6K after all bills are paid, then sure it sounds ample and would more accurately be stated: is $6K enough to save each month? But surely there are some costs which are not being considered?

Hell, we spend $450/month on a damn mosquito eater :?

I think you'll find it's the drugs, the drinking and the inability to spell in English.

6k is definately enough once the 'coke' bit has been traded down to a little bit of weed. Depending on what part of the island you stay in the end, a pint of draft 'lager' can be had for $7-8 and if you counter off the relatively high cost of beer with the low cost of chicken rice you'll even have enough left over at the end of the month for a Party Pack from your local dealer.

Coke is cheaper in the north of the island, around Woodlands. So yes, 6k excluding rent is plenty.
It's common sense - if you try to come in before I go out, I can't go out. And you can't come in! Lose-lose!
