I really hate to moan about banal stuff but I am so fed up with the staff at Harry's and in particular at the 360degrees water ski park.
I have been going to this place for about 3 years now and although the level of service was rubbish before, it seems even worse now that Harry's has bought the bar bit.
They cannot get the order of orders right - I ordered the same drinks as a couple that came 10 minutes after me and they had theirs delivered first.....there is nothing more likely to upset a customer (well me at least) than not being served in order in a restaurant or bar.
They refused to serve my 4 year old with ice cream at 11:30am because they only did breakfast until 12 noon. Come on! How difficult is it to scoop some ice cream into a bowl. Do the Harry's management know that they are not taking money because they can't be bothered to stick their arm into a freezer?
This inability to think about whether it is better to bend a rule to keep a customer happy drives me nuts and they seem particularly bad about it at this Harry's.
I would like to point out that the guys that run the wakeboard bit of the park are excellent and not part of this rant!

My two cents ??

Most of the staff at the Harry's are trainees-ojt - that should mean a lot when it comes to service
PS: without prior prejudice .. haha

We gave up going to Harry's at the 360 ages ago for exactly the same reason. You would think the amount of rent they are having to pay for that place they would be making sure they manged it well!

And here I was thinking I was the whiner when I saw the staff were busy 'socialising' within themselves ... and while I used to run a bar, I don't expect the staff to chit-chat, but keeping an eye on the customer is the main reason they do have their job right ??
I could go on - but .. hey - Mr Harry Knows Best I guess- or he claims his formula works

Thank god someone replied! I thought I was the only person that was getting sh1t service there for a minute.
If you like the wakeboarding, you kinda have to use the Harry's. I'm thinking about boycotting just so I don't have to pay for their ineptitude.
Who owns Harry's? Someone should write to them at least.
Must be making some money with the number of bars going up but as they used to say in my school reports, 'could do better'.

It is owned by a Singaporean Guy Mr Mohan ..
Well, they are running like Ryanair I guess

Cheap and low cost .. so - not sure ..
BTW, they are listed in SGX - sort of the first Bar Chain to List
PS: Boycott ?? Not sure - it will work, as with the promos, and their sprouting up almost everywhere like 7-11 .. they sure get business ..

Boycotts only work if we get a lot of people to join up.
Hopefully Mr.Mohan is reading this and will improve the attitude of the staff!

Yep - 100% right, and even then .. not sure if it will be a game changer - most bars go on living on non-regulars .. and visitors dont' read up before going to bars
Hopefully Mr.Mohan is reading this and will improve the attitude of the staff!
Me says - he dont' care much as his cash register keeps ringing ..
And they diversified into even a boutique hotel ...

ecurelix - you are right. I said hopefully he'll be reading this but I've never considered hope a strategy!
What may happen is that this post sits high enough in the search engine rankings for Harry's that someone in the organisation might notice it so we really need as many hits on this post as possible.
Keep your comments coming!

Me? I just vote with my wallet. I just don't patronize the place. It will survive without me, but frankly if I don't have to sit there and subject myself to that, I don't care what somebody else' pain threshhold is. There are some who don't care. So for them, Harry's is the place to go.

Harry's at Harbourfront is as close to being my local as any bar in Singapore. I always get good, prompt, friendly service from the people there.

For 2 years my office was in Goldhill Centre, and I have enjoyed the service of Harry´s @ Velocity too.
So it goes with the branch, the manager and so on.

me had not-so-nice experience in Tampines, The one at One Raffles, and one more .. but, the one in back of OT - if you don't mind the girls and like the band - is good.
Guess its' to do with their employing local or foreign labour ..
Local staff are more responsive and make you feel home ..
