Renewal REP

Postby candybee » Thu, 13 Jan 2011 10:48 am

Hi there,
My REP will expire soon ( April 2011 ) and I worry about that.
Here's my story.
Our family got SPR under family ties ( My dad'PR) on Sep 07 and we migrated to Singapore on 2008.
When we renewed REP on 2010, the other family members(mom & 2 younger bros) got 5years REP but not me .
I understand I'm over 21years and I am no longer under family ties.I got only 1 year of REP :(
Currently I don't have full time job. I'm studying part time course at one of the private schools and working as freelancer.
I'm don't know what should I do at the moment. Some ppl advise me to find full time job and contribute CPF . Should I ???
Do ICA check my CPF for renew REP ?
How to contribute CPF as freelancer.?
Pls advise me . What can I do to make sure ICA let renew my REP?

If you got your PR through your father (family ties), you are a second generation PR and liable for NS (assuming you are male). If you are female, they might want to see how you contribute to the Singapore economy first, as you suspect.
In any case, no REP does not mean no PR. Don't leave Singapore and you're fine!
