Maternity Clothes

Post by Lynsey » Mon, 10 Jan 2011 4:12 pm

Hi

I am hoping that someone can offer some advice please.

I have recently found out i am pregnant - only 7 weeks, but have started to think further down the line what is the situation like for maternity clothes in Singapore.

What i mean by that is im concearned that they will be mostly aimed at the asian girls and thererfor tiny!

Im from the Uk and a size 14 normally. I have had a look in Dorothy perkins and they dont seem to do maternity wear over here. I was just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction on where to look, as im a little frightened of going in some of the maternity shops assuming that they will not be geared towards fuller figures. Can anyone suggest anywhere or are most the maternity stores fine?

Thanks
Lynsey

One of the option that you may like to explore is internet shopping. My friend does that for her maternity clothingm and so far she is very satisfy with the goods that she has recieved.

Maternity clothes

Agree with the other poster. I was a UK 12 and in TOkyo when I was pregnant - I got heaps of good quality, reasonably priced stuff from the Amazon US site. One example = well-made, comfortable maternity jeans for $10!!! (mind you that was 5 years ago but sure you can still find a bargain!)

Maternity clothes

Post by jlma1972 » Tue, 18 Jan 2011 10:07 pm

I have just arrived in singapore and am 5 months pregnant. I am really disappointed with the clothes. I have looked at mothersworks - tanglin mall, Spring maternity, egg and the maternity house - all in vivocity mall- did buy a couple of dresses from the last one. Am desperate for new bras and swimwear but hard to find anything above a d-cup!

oh really...actually i'm having trouble with bra's too...i'm over D cup too...I had to order mind from uk, i got my aunt to send them over...i'm going to order my nursing bra's from there too!
maybe try marks n spencers too for clothes, if u don't find anything your best bet is to order stuff from uk...
I got myself measured in two three places, everyone told me different sizes, such a disappointment....they don't know what they are doing!

Thanks for the replies - i will have a look in those shops. I have looked in Egg on line but its sooo expensive!

Im only 2 months so dont need things yet - but just wanted to start thinking about it if im going to have to get things from home.

I asked in M&S yesterday and they do not do maternity at all anymore. Its very frustrating.

Ill put any details on here if i find anything of interest.........

Bigger bust size items :)

Post by FelineUK » Wed, 26 Jan 2011 12:09 am

I am a G cup normally and just found out i am a few weeks pregnant... So am hoping they wont go too much bigger! Anyway, for those of you searching for places for bra's out here then join the club :) I take great pleasure when i first came out here asking in Robinson whether they stocked a FF / G cups? Knowing full well they couldn't :) I have a warped sense of humour! Chuckle...

Anyway, i get my bra's from a store in the UK Called Bravissimo who specialise in larger busts and they now do online and international postage... £7.50 per order which is great when you order many things....I have seen some maternity items in there so will be having a look shortly but the soft t-shirt bra's they have are just wonderful for the sensitivity at the moment...

I hope you like www.bravissimo.com as much as i do. They start at DD and have some lovely items... The returns cost quite a bit though but nice to have the selection though, bras, sets, clothese and even strappy tops and nightwear too...

Have a look and see for yourself... As for maternity wear - like you i will be shopping online as i am a size 16/18.... I can feel a UK shopping trip on the cards after i get past 12 weeks..

Hi, i used to buy my maternity clothes from www.sassymom.com.sg
it's been quite some years back, but i remember they had sizes up to 3XL for some of their bottoms and reasonable priced too...only around $39-$59.

Otherwise, I did buy from GAP and ship it back here. But nothing beats being able to try it themselves.

Good luck....I miss being pregnant...waiting for my 3rd one now.

Hi girls, I am also shocked to see so little maternity clothing for at least busty 12 size UK, I am 12 and 12 E in the bra now but the maternity range in maternity shops here is so ridiculous, the fit is terrible and they are not nice. I can recommend figleaves. com from UK and LaurenSilva.com from US (mostly for lingerie), in Figleaves online store delivery to Singapore is only 5 pounds!

I just had some nursing bras shipped over, from Target, but through a friend. Couldnt find anything in my size.

Have any of you seen the sites that sell things at a discount, but with limited numbers. I probably can't mention names or it will be deleted. Anyway, I found some nursing bras on there that were QUITE stylish/sexy. Whatever you want to call it. LOL. Not your every day wear. In bigger sizes...they easily accommodated my DD and they had some E and F's too.

So it's out there. They were cheap too. I think I paid under $20 with shipping.
