Complicated VIsa extension situation

Post by mrfraggie » Sat, 08 Jan 2011 5:03 pm

Hi all just wondering if you could help me out. I have been in singapore for 2 months now. The first time i applied for a visa extension i was denied of extending so I went off to exit in malaysia and return and got a new visa for another 30 days.

Now my visa is once again running out. My question is, since i exited the last month and got myself new stamps in my passport and got the new DISEMBARKATION card. Can I try to apply again via online for a visa extension using the new disembarkation carD? or do i have to exit once again?

THanks in advance.

You have used your chances 2 times in quick succession. Your Online Application may have high chances of rejection. That does not mean that exit and entry will surely grant you an visa.

hmm i dont quite get what u meant. first month i entered straight from my home country for holidays and stuff here in SG. 1st month nearly over i exited to malaysia. so this coming jan 15 my would be my 2nd month. knowing that when i exited to malaysia i surrendered my 1st disembatkation card o immigration and when i came back i got a new one. now when u apply for visa extension all u need was passport no. and the disembarkation card no. correct?

so anyhow to my point since i got myself a new card. Can i try to apply via online? cuz i think i read somewhere in ICA that i can only try to apply for an extension visa ONCE. please do correct me if im wrong. thanks

You can apply but the chances of getting it approved is very less as you have entered SG already 2 times in 2 consecutive months recently even after they rejected your initial online extension application

That's a tricky situation - I have not heard of applications being a potential drawback, but in this case it would seem to be an obvious pattern of coming in and out, which would explain why my friends on short-term visas do it that way. I think your best bet is to have a backup plan you can rely on, because whatever way you try here, it won't be a reliable long-term solution.

The big question is, "Why are you in Singapore for two months, seeking yet more time in Singapore under a SVP?"

See, most folks that come visit Singapore find 3 to 5 days worth of sights, maybe a week, before moving on. Two months worth of sightseeing in Singapore and you'll be checking out things that even a lot of locals don't know about.

Or, people come to Singapore as tourists. They stay here a few days, then take off for Thailand, Bali, HK, Vietnam, Malaysia... you name it... and then they come back... a few days later, they are off to somewhere else.

If you're not fitting the typical patterns of a visiting tourist, then you'll probably be red-flagged, as it sure looks like you're trying to stay in SG on a more or less permanent basis using SVP's. If you're not staying in a hotel, if you don't have onward destination tickets, if you don't have a travel itinerary, my guess is the next time your SVP expires, you'll get 3 days to get out of the country.
