Salary for expat graduate in Singapore?

Post by sezsarah » Fri, 07 Jan 2011 9:34 pm

Not as straight-forward as it seems. I've worked in Singapore before, on top of several years of work experience (partly PT, partly FT). So not 'just' graduate, but experienced at that and also with a few additional qualifications. When applying to one of the MANY jobs I'm applying to, what salary should I quote in my expectations?? :???:
PS: I realise it depends hugely on the position, but I'm looking for a general rule of thumb here- if anyone's got something like that!
Thank you!

$2500 is probably the norm for Singaporeans in the IT field, depends on industry too you know. You being an expat, already here in Singapore will probably only get offered local rates if you are lucky.

probably depends on companies :

Local companies - Small scale - can be below 2,500 - in IT fields

SME and some small MNC can be 2,800 -3,000

Big corporations can be 3,000 - 3,500 and big banks can be 3,500-4,200 (Barclays, Merill Lynch are some few examples where most of my friends are offered 4,200)

But on average, we as local graduates, can get around 2,800 - 3,000 so I guess with some experience and qualification of yours you should be able to get at least 2,800

Good luck !
