Shopping in Ho chi ming City

I am going to HM City for a wknd and would like to buy some table lamps (laquered) . Any particular place anybody can recomend? Also, is there a night market ?? Interesting places to visit in such a short time??/ We will be staying at Renaissance Riverside htl Saigon. many thks

I was quite surprised to see the malls and restaurants in the city rather quiet, many restaurants were barely half filled and even the retail shops...
