What exactly are your goals for your child to learn martial arts? Having studied several, I know from experience that a lot of schools purport that studying theirs would let a person do something...which won't most of the time.
Could you elaborate more about the rolling relevance? Judo and jujitsu look better than striking arts but they'll be useless in self-defense when an assailant would have buddies. Real taekwondo is amazingly effective but unfortunately is diluted by the mass-marketed and watered down "franchise."
But for discipline or a cultural/art experience, either would be ok; just don't get lulled into a false sense of security that the child would know self-defense.
