I am currently working with one of the MNC in India. I have not taken up any SAP certification. Please let me know the SAP job market in Singapore. Is it the correct time to migrate to Singapore.

Hi,

I am Sriram from India. I am 25 years old and have 3 years of experience as a SAP BASIS consultant. My qualification is B.E (mechanical engineering)
I am currently looking for a job in Singapore and would love to settle in Singapore.

Can I apply for a work permit by myself and then look for jobs in Singapore ?
or
Should I search for jobs and the employer should apply for my work Visa ??

Which is the correct procedure to reach my destination (Singapore)

I would really appreciate your help in this regard.

Wish you a Very Merry christmas and a Prosperous New Year 2011. :)

Thank you in advance.

Warm Regards,
Sriram Bhaskar

Google and the search function of this forum are a good start for your research on this topic. Lots of information available!
In short: Only a company willing to employ you can apply for a visa allowing work. The company will have to prove to MOM that they cannot find a suitable local for the job. Since there are plenty of people with three or more years SAP experience, most with certificate, this is unlikely in your case. Most companies would not even try - thus the majority of job ads saying "Only Singaporean or PR need to apply".

Get a visa, then book a flight.
It would help tremendously if you are physically present in Singapore. Plan to come here for 3 - 6 months to look for a job if you are serious about it (and can afford it)!

Good luck, you'll need lots of it!

Sriram,

Staying in India and looking for a job in Singapore is a matter of chance. Only thing you can do is upload your resume in the Indian jobsites and Singapore jobsites and hope that an employer likes your profile and shortlists you for interview.

Its possible, thats how I came here. I had uploaded my job profile in Naukri.com and then one afternoon I got a call from a consulting company here which also has operations in India.

But, you see that is a matter of chance, I am sure you would already have put your resume in the Indian job sites. Do it for SG job sites as well and hope for the best.

There is no other way other than coming to Singapore quitting your existing job on a social visit pass and then looking for job here. That would give you better chance. But being an Indian I doubt whether you are going to do that.

So good luck.

Hi revhappy,

Thank you very much for your reply. I have already uploaded my resume in the Indian and the Singapore job portals. Waiting for a call with fingers crossed.

Incase you know any Job consultants in singapore, please share their contact details with me. It would be of great help to me.
