Hi my company had used LOM logistics to move my belongings from India to SQ. However the company has done an extremely shoddy job of the same. They have in the process torn my sofa, chipped of dining table, bedframes, cupboards , dented fridge, washing machines etc etc ( the list goes on). Now they are offering me a compensation of SGD 1000 only whereas they charged us close to SGD 9000 for the shipment. Do I have a consumer right protection against them and force them to pay me adequately for the damages suffered and inconvenience caused as a result

So it basically means your company didn't buy the insurance for the shipment?
Most removal companies offer it with the quote, just to cover such issues.
If you didn't opt to take out the insurance plan then I think there is little you can do legally speaking unless, maybe, the moving company didn't offer insurance or have the faclility for it........ in which case, on an international move, you should have used a mover that did.

Thanks - Actually we did take insurance but i guess the insurance company is not compensating for the bad job carried out by the movers. is there nothing in the regulations in SQ that can force the movers to compensate for the bad job carried out by them

The whole point about insurance is to cover damaged goods. I would chase after those guys rather than the movers - tear their heads off.
With regards regulations, 'bad' is a subjective term. How do you quantify 'bad'? There aren't any rules, but then, that's why we buy insurance.
