Depends on how long you have already been here and how many days are left on your current visa.

i was given 30 days visit pass and it will expire on dec 28, and i would like to extend for another at most 15 days. I applied for an extension online yesterday and i checked the results today, it was rejected. Do you think I can reapply again in person, if I have a friend who holds PR status?

Should be able to if your friend is employed and willing to sponsor you. You will probably need to do it manually though.
