Malaysian working in Singapore

Post by xiaoxun07 » Sun, 12 Dec 2010 2:25 pm

Hi, I have a (perhaps) relatively old topic. If I have an offer in Singapore and I'm currently working in Malaysia earning about RM8,000 per month, what should the general offer of the Singapore MNC be? Translate the RM salary using the current rate of 2.4? Or it should be about dollar-to-dollar with maybe slight discount e.g. <20%?

Urgent help needed.

Cheers!

You need to factor in the cost of living which is much higher in Singapore, rental can take up 50% of your income, if living alone. So you shouldn't be losing out! Though $ for $ is very good if you can push it through. I guess it depends on your position and industry too, before anyone can make any suggestion on the salary

The salary should depend on what you are worth to the company (based on your background, the job fit and how badly they want you).
In general, that should have nothing to do with your previous salary (especially in a different company, job and country)!
