not so, if I read UK Dailymail :D

Seems UK has gone on to making the system so transparent, immigrants can sue the government for rejecting the residency - so much so, now they are in a catch-22 situations - or so it seems.

So, an illegal immigrant comes, and he is put in holding area, and while waiting, honoured guest finds out he qualifies for residency, and he applies, and if the UK govt rejects the residency, he can sue them for 'basic rights' not protected or whatever ...

Well, maybe I am smoking too much weed, but the Dailymail also goes on to say that UK is the top immigrant magnet, and the UK Govt can do nothing about it :) and they are forced to admit even those they don't want ..

Some Brit here could explain that though

Sorry if that was a bit of a thread-drift ..

Some news, if it was so true ..

ok, so we all know being a UK citizen, married to a Singaporean with a Singaporean child - with a degree, wont qualify for PR :o

However, would an Australian citizen, married to a non-Singaporean, with two non-Singaporean kids, a degree ,only lived in Singapore for 1 year, earns > 250K as a snr executive for a multinational firm, qualify PR?

It is not about the degrees per se or married to SG. It is the host of criterias that was being laid in front of the approving officer that makes it difficult. What's more with the current backlash from the ground, who knows ?

However for yourself if you are P1, no harm in trying be it before or after GE.
But I have to warn you that the privileges are not that great compare to OZ PR or even NZ PR

Hi everyone,

I'm predicting that in the near future I will also be having a similar dilemma in regards to obtaining PR.
I'm an Australian citizen, wanting to marry a Singaporean man and migrate to Singapore.
I am currently undertaking a degree at UQ, but at this moment in time, I can't see myself finishing it.

I want to be there with him so I'm looking into this:

But what happens after these 6 months are over? Am I allowed to reapply given that I am deferring uni for a year?

P.s. Off topic but I wanted to ask if Australian TAFE Diplomas are recognized in Singapore? (shorter alternative, perhaps?)

If you are going to marry him, you will need to apply for LTSVP thru ICA. That work holiday programme is much harder than you think. I do not know much about it but coming from the feedback in the forum, it is not that good in getting job. This is not a wise route.
I would advise you to persevere and finish your Uni as job is hard to come by and you cannot work when you are on LTSVP . Until such time your future hubby can sponsor you for PR, only then you can look for a job. A degree qualification stands a better chance than not having one.
Think about it as in SG paper qualification is vital in looking for job

ICA have a link to check whether you are qualified to apply PR or Citizen.
You can refer it for your application. But Now GE is coming, everything is GE-related.

Oh, yeah I heard about that. The government is giving out 'stimulus' money soon..

Damn, I am at a loss in regards to my current situation. I really don't know what I should do.
Is the LTSVP relatively easy to obtain? & if I do get approved, what can I do if I don't work? :?
