Collection of Work Permit Card has been extended for 2 month

i was about to collect my work permit card (S-pass) on 01 december 2010 but rather decided to collect it the day after (02 december 2010). but to my surprise MOM officer told me that the card collection would be extended to 01 February 2011. i was confuse why it will take another 2 months to issue my work permit card. is there any validation or investigation going on for my work status or documents? i've constantly check for my work status at the MOM website and my status are valid and issued at ep online. just wondering why it had to take another 2 months to reissue my work permit card?...please help...your urgent advise would be greatly appreciated. thanks

They are probably swamped with applications, short of staff.

i did ask the officer in charge of the collection but she said that she dont know about it and they took my number and they will just call me if there's an update. im so confuse...
