How to apply a long-term visit for my parents?

Post by Gsis » Thu, 02 Dec 2010 6:12 pm

Hi, does anybody know how to apply for my parents to stay in Singapore for more than 2 months?
My husband is EP holder and I am DP holder. We need my parents to help out for my pregnancy and the labor next year. They can stay for about one month with a tourist visa from China. But obviously I need them to stay a bit longer.
What type of visa I shall/can apply for them and how?

Dependent pass thru MOM is meant for spouse or your own children. I am pretty sure not given to parent or parent in laws. Moreover the company your hubby works must be able to sponsor if it is allowed.
One way to have a long stay here is to get a Singaporean or PR to sponsor your parents. They will be their guarrantor. To my knowledge the maximum will be 90 days stay. You have to apply to ICA. You must state reason and proof of request.

Your information is very helpful.
I do not intent to apply DP for my parents. Just a longer visiting visa like 2 months or so.
Anyone knows whether EP holder can or cannot apply for visiting visa for inlaws?
What is ICA and how shall I apply for one?

ICA stands for Immigration & Checkpoint Authority. It used to be called SIR

It is located at Immigration & Checkpoints Authority
ICA Building
10 Kallang Road
Singapore 208718

(Beside Lavender MRT.)

Ask your parent to enter as a visitor for One month. This is standard for China visitors

Nearing the departure date apply for extension either come in person to ICA or by E-extend. You may need a local sponsor to extend their visit and Singpass if by E-extend
