First Name change -> employment pass

Post by serve_the_servants » Wed, 01 Dec 2010 12:32 am

Hi,

I did an internship in Singapore in 2004.

In 2008, I added a name to my first name, this 'added' first name was my 'unofficial' name for years. My original first name is too difficult for English speakers and so I decided to make my unofficial first name Chris official.

I added the name by court in Europe following the usual procedures, peace of cake.

Last week, I found a nice job in Singapore, my employment pass was approved within a day.

Nevertheless, my sponsor company said to me that the 'name change' was still pending and therefore the approval letter was put on hold too.

I added all translated court letters, old passport copies etc with the EP application and these are currently under review since I have entered Singapore with 2 different first names. Over the years, I have always honestly mentioned this on the entry cards.

Question: How does Singapore deal with first name changes, is this something to worry about? How long does this vetting procedure usually take?

thanks!
