Applying for EP (but with or w/o spouse D.Pass query)

Post by Ronio.Ron » Mon, 29 Nov 2010 5:48 pm

Hi, My company will soon be applying for my E.Pass through our Singapore office. My wife is pregnant with the expected delivery date in Dec next month.

For me to join in Jan 2011, I have to apply asap (takes 4-5 weeks) and according to my company I "hopefully" should get it (MBA from UK - good Univ & recognized by MOM website, B. Engg + 6 yrs relevant work exp) and I join as Reg. Sales & Mktg Mgr on a local contract. I did their online EP test and my Univ names got accepted and it said my EP application shud go through.

My wife is Bach. Commerce which is also recognized and has a Diploma in Hotel Mgmt and was an 5 star Hotel employee before pregnancy

So my query is - Should I apply my wife's D.Pass now along with my application or after the birth of child (separately of my wife + child), by which time I will at least know for sure if I am going into Singapore or not (result of my Emp. Pass).

I plan to apply for their visa (wife + child) in Mid-March i.e. after i get my new born baby's passport done and then apply for Dep. Pass.

But I see many stories of Spouse's or Child's Dep.Pass application getting rejection / withheld or just canceled for many reason good or bad or just odd. OR have I to get them into Singapore first on a LTVP etc and then apply for D.Pass?...I would like to have both my wife and child on a DP, so what is the best strategy to get the best result.

I also know it may or may not work for various reasons - being reasonable - but I just want to put my best foot forward and rest is left on MOM.

Thanks...
Cheers/Rgds,
Ron

Just apply for your wife DP and Your EP at the same time, the DP is renewed at the same time as the EP. you can arrange the baby pass on arrival.

Make a note of arrival of the baby on your wife's DP application, that you intend to apply for baby on arrival in March for the baby. Wife may get rejected if she is not coming until March/April, but not a problem, the authority are abiding by their own Standard OP's

The DP can be issued within 30 days, Just ensure you have all documentation including the new birth certificate and registration, also ensure the inoculation's are completed, some need to be done in stages, check with your own doctor and clinic, before you leave.

Maybe some mothers on the parenting thread, can inform you better of the baby's travel preparations.

DP's renew on the same schedule as EP's, not yearly. Apply for both together. Don't put anything else down except the required information.

Your employer should be filing electronically. These usually get processed in about 48 hours for UK citizens/universities. Even a manual application should not take more than 2 weeks.

Correct DP is together with EP and not 1 year.

thanks ksl, SE...

but unfortunately looks like my employer will take up my EPass application first and then (wife + child) i.e. shud be after when i get my childs passport done.

this would mean an approx delay of 3 months after my application, which as you suggest should come out pretty quickly and hopefully positively.

Do you guys see any trouble here (for wife+kids DP application), just asking as its the company's call and I have to accept their process.

cheers...
Cheers/Rgds,
Ron
