i got work during the national championship but i might be willing to call in sick if we get enough people to commit to the game. as far as other bowl games go, the ones that match up best timewise and weekendwise are the chick-fila bowl (fsu- south carolina) game on Saturday Jan. 1 at 8:30 am and the fiesta bowl (oklahoma - uconn) Sunday Jan. 2 at 9:30 am. the chick-fila bowl is early on new years so that one might be tough to get a crowd to and the fiesta bowl isn't that interesting this year. still i'd be down to watch any of them

Yeah I probably should have posted it sooner. I dont know if you guys have been to Brewezke but they actually have a decent set-up there. We got this decent size private room with a big clear screen so it was fun for a bit, then our team started to play like shit.

People/hosts at the bar seemed friendly enough so we should just go there on a weekend and set-up base:P I am down to go there on a weekend and catch a NBA game. I dont think NFL would work with the timing.

As for the stabbing, half the guys who are on the Trojan bandwagon have no affiliation to SUC. I think the guy who got stabbed was from CAL St. Fullerton and I assume a bunch of low life Trojan fans would have started that fight.

Yeah I have to work too, but I can take a few hours off for the NC game. I have a feeling its going to be a good one. I think AZ can hang with OSU, lets c how it goes.

AZWildcat: you only need a kicker ? we need a guy who can throw, a guy who can catch and another guy who can tackle :???:

To end a perfect weekend the BB team loses to Montana St -- Dang I dont even know what that team is

BCS game watching

Post by AZWildcat » Tue, 07 Dec 2010 12:52 pm

Hey sloopjb80, I doubt I can motivate myself to get up so early on New Year's Day for the Chick-fil-A Bowl. The Fiesta Bowl is a maybe for me... but UConn has a football team? :)

I don't know if I'll be working on Jan 11 yet but I really want to catch the NC game. Go PAC-10-soon-to-be-PAC-12!

Never been to Brewsezke but am happy to check it out. $20+ for a burger? It had better kick a good ol' IN N OUT burger's butt!

Really? I think you have more faith than I do!
Alamo Bowl Game Central

The University of Arizona football team will face the nation's No. 1 offensive unit in the Valero Alamo Bowl Dec. 29 in San Antonio.
Maybe I should sign up for the head coach position while I'm the new kicker at U of A, too.

Yeah Bruin, what's up with you guys in hoops? Almost beat Kansas and then losing to Montana?!? You bring shame to da family!

Wildcat - Yeah the chickfila bowl timing is really bad on New Years and UConn in a BCS bowl is a joke so those games aren't the greatest

I definitely want to watch the national championship game, I will probably skip work if others are down. And did you guys know that American gridiron football is on an Asian network called ASN? I was walking through Clarke Quay on Friday night and randomly saw Peyton Manning on a TV in a bar!!! I checked out the ASN website http://www.asn.tv/eng/index.php and apparently they carry pro and college games. ASN is carried by Starhub in Singapore

Hey sloopjb80, I didn't know about ASN. Do you subscribe to that?

Looks like another person is interested in the NC game. Where can we watch the game? I'm sure I can watch the game online but unless someone has a nice big TV that can hook up to my tiny laptop, that's not gonna help.

Wildcat - I don't subscribe to ASN yet, I am just getting settled in so I haven't got cable yet. I checked the ASN schedule and they don't seem to playing the NC game for some reason. At least it is not on their schedule yet. So unless we find another network in Singapore that is playing the game, we may have to do the hookup the computer to the TV thing. I am totally down, I'd really like to watch the game so let's try to figure something out.

If we do find a network that is going to show the game, the Brewerkz place that Bruin mentioned seems pretty good, I went there the other night and it seems like a pretty good place to watch games. I also thought of another gOOd ol' American establishment to watch the game as well!

Ill be there on business the week of the game and definitely need to watch it.

Im an Oregon Alum and grew up in Eugene so you know who I'll be rooting for Tuesday (sorry Scott) GO DUCKS!

If the games are being played at Brewerkz, just let me know when and where to go and Ill be there.

Ill stop off at the Duty Free when I land and grab a bottle of Southern Comfort to help ease the nerves of any Tiger fans during the game :P

DO DUCKS!

Just called Brewerkz and they won't be opened till noon next Tuesday. They'll open early for the Super Bowl though.

Looks like we're gonna have to go laptop to TV/projector.

I also called a couple of places and it seems that most sports bars don't open until 11am. Apparently they have a permit that allows them to operate during certain hours. However they can apply to receive a special permit to operate outside of normal hours for special events like the World Cup or the Super Bowl. Unfortunately it is too late to apply for one of these permits for the BCS National Championship game. So maybe next year us American college football fans can get these permits for certain games that are outside normal hours!

For the game this year, indeed, I think the only option is to stream the game through the internet and hook it up to a TV. I would offer my place but unfortunately I don't have internet, cable, or a TV yet. If anybody else can offer their place let us know!

Darn it, WinTheDay! I was going to offer my white wall and was hoping you would provide the projector & speakers.

sloopjb80, I have internet connection but a tiny ancient TV and no cable. I think we might be SOL.

I have internet, a 27 inch flatscreen, and small speakers. Internet speed can be hit or miss with my Slingbox. I've had my days where it chops badly, and days where it's acceptable (with a host tv set in the US, it's just the nature of the beast).

It's real short notice here, but if you want to swing by for the game, you're welcome to. I just can't promise anything spectacular.

AZWildcat, how "ancient" is your TV?

Hey gator, I have a feeling my sister's tiny TV is at least 10 years old!

Thanks for the offer, I think I'll take you up on it. Need to get my lazy *ss out of the 'burbs and go meet some new people! sloopjb80, you in?

By the way, if your Slingbox gets too choppy, we can try a direct connection to an online stream.
