Whose brainwave was it calling the mall at MBS 'The Shoppes'?

It's jaw-droppingly tasteless.

It is a peculiar juxtaposition. It is (probably) aspiring to be a world class mall, and yet it is named after something like a 16th century alley of shops in Yorkshire. It makes no sense.

A bit like all the condos etc in Singapore that are branded with an incorrectly used French D'xyz

D'JR8 (because I'm feeling expensive tonight yah?)

best sandwiches in Singapore

Adding my 2 cents to this topic

Madison Deli at the Marina Bay Link Mall is a definite FAIL

I ate there today based on the postings here on the forum.

Ordered the Jersey Special and a Rootbeer S$16.50 later I ended up with pitiful sandwich with more bread than meat or other toppins and the bread was not even good tasting.

I was done in three bites not because it was good but because it was really nothing of a sandwich. Does not even match the picture, no pickle or side, only a sandwich on a white plate...

Just my opinion but Singapore is still lacking a good deli sandwich

I should have gone to the Salad Stop across the way :(

The Smokeshop in the basement of Republic Plaza is very good for all the regular sandwiches. My office crew do their reward lunches from there almost unanimously. It has moved around a bit in the last year but looks like they have found a home in the Hive. Cheers,

Agreed Zeenit, more often than not you go out in the expectation of having some great food like back home. Only to find it fails dreadfully. Like... the Italian that can't even cook the pasta properly [how often has that happened in SG, sigh!].

In SG it is only rarely I get western food better than I could prepare myself. So in a sense I eat out solely for the occasion and convenience.

Could not agree more. Went to Pasta lessons and now that issue is solved as well. I hate dried pasta.
