Advice on relocating and obtaining work in singapore

Post by Deekay » Sat, 20 Nov 2010 7:14 am

Hi All,

My wife and I are Australian and are keen to relocate and work in singapore.

We are wondering if anyone could offer advice or their personal experiences on the best way to go about finding employment in Singapore. Is it best to relocate first and find jobs when onshore or have people had better experience finding work before relocating.

If so, what are the best way of doing so? Are there any specific sites or agencies that help with the process or is it just a matter of applying for publicly listed jobs on sites such as moster.com and jobsdb.com?

I work in IT and my wife works in accounting and admin.

Thanks for your help in advance.

My route was stay in my job and scour every possible opportunity I could find on the internet.

You could also look into having your company having you posted to a position here in Singapore, if your company is multinational or transnational.

If you'd opt to go here and look, please search more for relevant threads here (most aspects have their discussions already--agencies, visas, companies, moving...the whole 8 yards). Summary: political climate makes doing so discouraging for foreigners.

Hi stephane_tougard,

Mainly Linux (Redhat/CentOS/Fedora) but also very familiar with UNIX (Solaris).

Do you work in this area? Are you working in Singapore?
