China University Certificate consider as Dip / Degree in SG

Post by lighter1 » Mon, 15 Nov 2010 4:09 pm

Dear Ladies & Gentlemen,

I have already applied a long term pass for my spouse, her highest education level is 专科商务英语。 We have checked with her school which is Changsha University of Science and Technology, they say that this is consider as a college degree and not a bachelor degree.

When we apply for the long term pass, we wrote Degree in Business degree. Currently the pass has been issued, but recently one of my friend told me that china education " 专科" is only consider as Diploma in Singapore. I wonder if anybody know where can i check, what is this certificate consider in Singapore? If it is consider as Diploma, we have to make amendment in ICA immediately.

Please help advise.

Thank you for your advice.

This Chinese only says" Specialist Business English" what were the dates of the course?
I would think it is just a Business English Course, not a degree though the length of the course may determine the outcome, I cannot imagine a degree in China only being a diploma in Singapore.

It is more likely to be a diploma in China that they have attended at University, which you have mistaken for a degree, I mean the person taking it must know the difference.

Just contact ICA and amend it, it shouldn't be a problem, in fact they probably know already if they bothered to read the Chinese. Though I thought the document had to be translated and approved by a translator/or by a competent person.

The course was 2 years, the teacher in the school told us in degree too.
The certificate don't write anything in english whether it is diploma or degree. it says is 专科.

I have already emailed my concern to ICA, waiting for them to get response. It will be good to declare that myself rather than they realize it which will cause more trouble..
