New mum moving to Singapore - making mum friends

Post by jsorrell » Sat, 13 Nov 2010 2:54 am

I'm from the UK and my baby is ten weeks old. My husband has been offered a job in Singapore to start around March next year. Although I've been to Singapore before and loved it, the thought of moving is quite daunting.
Are there many mother and baby social groups out there that we could join? We would really love to make some good friends when we arrived to ease us in, plus I need something to occupy me as I will not be working and I expect my husband to be working long hours! How easy would it be to make mummy friends?

Welcome to Singapore~ I have been staying in Singapore since this Jan and understand how hard it would be at the beginning. When are you going to arrive? Can have coffee together. My baby girl is six months now~ My email address is [email protected]. Let me know your arriving date once fixed. Cheers~

Thanks for your reply. Would love to meet for a coffee when we get out there. At the moment it looks like it will be early March but dates aren't fixed yet. We're looking into the best locations to live right now. I will let you know once all is sorted via your email address. I'll try not to bombard you with too many questions! Just one quick one though, how does your baby find the heat and sun? Thanks

Hi there

My little family are also moving to Singapore Feb/March time, we have one little boy who is 2 (I'm not brave enough to have more yet!)

We are looking at moving to Holland Village, though we'll be spending a month in Serviced Apartments in the CBD....

I'd love to meet up for coffee, soft play etc and make some new friends!

Best of luck with your move etc

Hi all,
I moved to singapore from the UK a week ago with my four month old son and would really love to meet other mums and babies. If any one would like to grab a "coffee" and have a chat about our bundles of joy, I would love to meet up. We moved to Kovan area...not driving but I think I might have a handle on the MRT so can travel around (ish).
Paza85 and Enid, would it be ok to drop you a mail too?

Social/support groups for new mums

Post by Britmummy2011 » Fri, 22 Jul 2011 1:03 pm

Hi everyone,

I know you guys were posting about this back in March, but I wondered whether you found any nice support/social groups for new mums in Singapore?

I am a British PR, 28 years old, living in the north of Singapore (Woodlands) but am willing to travel! I would love to meet other mums here, of any nationality of course. I just had my first baby 1 week ago, delivered at KK hospital.

At the moment my family are visiting, but I think it could be quite lonely just being with the baby all day... so if anyone wants to meet up for a coffee please let me know?

Take care all
xx
