DIY - Searching the Forum

Post by carteki » Mon, 08 Nov 2010 2:19 pm

There have been a number of posters repeatedly "flammed" for not looking through the forum to find the answer to the question. While it annoys the (&# out of me to repeat myself again and again and again, I do admit that the search functionality leaves a lot to be desired so I thought I'd drop some hints...
1) type your query in the search box above
and a new page will open with the results - most of which will relate to the classifieds and other sections and might not be relevant.

To narrow down the search
Add the words "site:http://forum.singaporeexpats.com" in the search box
This will then search ONLY the forum postings and not the whole of the expats site.

If you want it to be even more relevant, use the search engine located just under the 'Profile' link. And have it return the results as posts. Then you can start small and keep adding to narrow it down. The lower search engine (with the orange 'search' button is useless as far as I'm concerned.
