Need recommendations & my search did not yield the answe

Post by lilkitcat » Sat, 06 Nov 2010 11:21 pm

...I was looking for...

We are moving to Singapore on Thursday. My husband's new company will pay for our first week in a hotel, after that we are on our own. Therefore, we are in a bit of a hurry to find an apartment. Can anyone point me in the direction of a thread that would help us choose an agent? After reading the horror stories on this forum, I am not looking forward to the search. I know a few complexes we want to look at, I just haven't a clue where to look for an agent. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you!!

An excellent place to start would be www.singaporeexpats.com

Sometimes you just gotta wonder........

one week might be a little tight to look for a place. what you dont want is rush into it. maybe opt for a Service Apartment for 2 weeks instead of the hotel with the company if it work out cheaper.

When I said my search didn't yield the results I wanted, I meant my search of this website!!

We are going to find a Service Apartment once we get there...hopefully that won't take too long either!
I'm sorry, my dear, but panic is NOT an option.

SMS I think that you were a bit obtruse - even I had to think about what you meant :D

This forum is run by a property company, so if you check out the links at the top of the page you will see things like "housing in Singapore" and "Our services". From the Home page you can see apartments to rent. We are not allowed to "advertise / advise" on agents on the board. Best to ask your co HR and colleagues for recommendations - but as with agents all over the world do your homework on what you are signing.

What we can do is answer questions that you have about standard lease terms, costs of leases and agents and ways to generally protect yourself (and it isn't the agents that can be unscrupulous it is the owners too).

You would be surprised at the number of times people have located this forum without having ever had a look at the main url. It's happened numerous times in the past so I never discount the obvious.
