The season in Tioman will be closed in Dec, so probably Pattaya (but why not one of the other Thai islands?)

Agreed, Tioman is more or less closed from now to end Feb.

Pattaya is an utter dump.

Any other places you might consider? Phuket might be much better, heading out to Phi Phi. Or Koh Tao for example.

p.s. Pulau Hantu?

Sorry guys, I am away from the region for a while.

Out of interest have either of you dived Hantu? I've heard the vis. is seriously horrendous. Though, if you're lucky you get to see 'muck-diving' stuff, like frogfish and seahorses...

Me, no but since it's so near, I may just be willing enough just to log another dive (and for practice). I haven't dived since I got my cert.

OIC. How long ago was that, if I might ask?

Nice 8-)

Tioman could be a good place for a w/e when it reopens. Whole range of sites from gentle to more challenging. Plus it's such a lovely unspoilt island...

You should shot for either Thailand or Indonesia. You can dive in Phuket or Krabi. Phuket's dive is ok. Krabi have more interesting dive sites, if you are an advanced diver. Samui is closed, I think because of Monsoon.

Although Bali is super touristy, I have to admit that their dive sites remains top quality.

Forget about diving Vietnam. Average dive sites. Philippines is a hit and miss.

Tioman is a great beach island but the diving isn’t much.

Where did you go diving there?

Some sites can be unpredictable re: the visibility (like Sawasdee), but others are reliably first rate in my opinion. Like Tiger Rock for example. Wow!

Sipidan it ain't, but the appeal to me is it is only 35mins from Seletar, and has the whole range of sites from Easy to Advanced...
