Quick question

What does +1 mean in Singapore property rentals? I'm wondering if this refers to a maid's room/study/boxroom type area that we could use for our baby/toddler? My idea, of course, is to save some $ by renting a 1+1 instead of a 2br.

usually +1 indeed is gonna be a storage or a maid's room or stuff like that

You don't want to put a toddler in it...

Quite often those areas won't have A/C, or sometimes even a window... and to put a toddler bed would take the whole space literally.

+1 just means the living room or the Hall. So a 2+1 is 2 bedrooms and the hall. 3+1 is 3 bedrooms+ hall. You can just ignore the +1 what is important is what is before the +1

If you are referring to the old Black & White rental units (former military housing) +1 refers to the Amah's Room and was usually a room off the back of the house.
