My penalty will most likely be:
1) Fine? - As alluded from prior conversations, but that was before Piano Man incident.
2) NS? - Would they allow me to serve given that I am no longer a citizen and also I am past 30 which is the limit for serving NS?
3) Jail? - This would be the worse case scenario that I am trying to avoid.
4) Combination?

From the statistics published in 2006, would you happen to know among the 23 who were not drafted because they were no longer citizens, did they receive jail time or just a fine? I am looking for anecdotes I can use for my case.

Would you know how minor citizens similar to my case who enjoyed social economic benefits were treated in the past for defaulting?

Is there a public record of penalties for the verdicts passed in court for reference post Piano Man incident?

Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer!

Other forum experts, please feel free to weigh in as well. SMS?

Thank you everyone!
Patient my young padawan !!
I am NOT trying to be inquisitive on your predicament. There are too may cases here where forumers supply us bits and pieces and we have to figure out what the hell has gone wrong from the normal procedure.
I am trying to form a plan for you that is all. I have gone this things myself for my kids which are about your age. Moreover I am trying to second guess what CMPB or MINDEF(Higher Hierachy) would do .
Ok here is the plan.
Plan A.
1. Call CMPB telling you want to face the music. If you have all the comms prior to this, please bring along to mitigate.
2. You will definitely gets the max fine $10K. Jail time there are about ** cases since 2006 approx. Sorry cannot reveal too much. I am sticking my head too much. For all of this cases at this age band; $5K and Two weeks jail. No NS although drafted. One did serve as civilian NS; no jail time and only $3K fine.
3. Tell them you wished to serve NS as a mitigating factor. Chances are will be dead NO.
4. Even if you are in jail , you only go to remand prison in Queenstown. Not that bad.
5, Then you are free to go. But since you are a HKG or US citizen and you have served your sentences, I am not sure if ICA will allow you to stay for visit . Chances of being deported is high too. ICA and Mindef are two different agencies

Plan B

1. If you are US citizen try going for deed poll ie. name change etc. As you are born in HKG not SG , your chances looks even better of NOT being detected by ICA.
2. The US PP will not reflect DOB as SG but HKG.
3. To cover your track call Citizen Advise Bureau , your Dad can check for you if you are still listed in Singapore Census and what did they classified you as. i.e Non SG or defaulters etc...

IMHO Plan B will be a better choice.

How's this for a plan ?

Hello MinorCitizen

Sorry my friend I think you will be in a for big time when you decide to be back in SG. You are too smart with a typical Hongkie mentality n making Singapore Government a sucker . You have all your dream plans figure out and it did not work out now because your dad wants to retire in SG. FYI this is SG and NOT stupid Canada.
So highly intelligent planning on after 30s to avoid NS with a fine, Dream on man !!

<Since>
--Irrelevant, the DPP will asked for the max. jail time for you 3 years cos you hv stayed away for too long .Mindef needs scape goat like you to publicize her harsh NS laws for defaulter.

<Would>
-- Can forget about it. After you hotel stays you will be asked to leave.

< Of course, the ideal situation is simply a fine, but what is the likelihood of that after Piano's Man incident. I do hope for a lesser judgment due to being a minor citizen.>
-- Haha, Dream on, come back to SG and you will know the judgment.

Sorry MC if my comments are unfriendly and IMO is best you forget about SG and consider asking your dad n mom to retire in Johor Bahru.

Dear Moderators,

I find the following posting by Satoko offensive and presumptuous. Can we ban him/her please and delete all his/her impolite postings? I merely requested for us to concentrate on the title of the thread and not get side tracked, and the reaction from this person has been rather mean spirited. Not only once but twice even after I have ignored the first offense.

Such impoliteness is uncalled for in a cordial forum where folks are offering kind hearted and knowledgeable advice for each other. Please note we are pouring out very sensitive and personal information about ourselves that I hope people can be sensitive about. The only decision I made in this whole fiasco is deciding not to be a Singaporean at age 21. Every decision prior to that was decided by my parents and I am left to deal with the psychological and emotional burden for the rest of my life.

Thanks!

BTW pertaining your problems, it is a waste of time for MS . don't come on to this forum to give us your shit and bull. Don't take Singapore as an insurance coverage, just as Hongkie did after receiving Canadian citizenship and flee back to Hong Kong. Want to have the best of both world right ? Dream on !!

Hi SMS! I would also like to thank you for your help as well. It took a lot for me to post on this forum and I appreciate that you listened. Dual citizenship in Singapore is a mine field and your children is fortunate to have your help to navigate through this.

Hello Strong Eagle
Thank you for saying NO to Minor Citizen ( a pamper grown-up little kid)

Hey Minor Citizen

Grow up man, are you a little kid, asking me to be banned on this forum ?
Too bad when the truth hurts. You are 30year old and not 11. You are sooo crocky with your postings and being exposed, WHY did you decide to remove all your postings !! ?
Afraid forumers could figure out your character, integrity etc.... right ? You a science/engineering grad, wonder you uphold your professional ethics to begin with ?

Look, I don't plan to censor you as requested by Minor Citizen... but he has a point... you are a butthead.

No question: You did hijack a thread instead of posting your own subject matter... and you've been an arrogant ass. If I were to delete MC, I'd delete you as well.

All I see is the pot calling the kettle black... and the only thing to be determined is... who is the pot and who is the kettle.

Both of you... let these personal attacks end now.

Thank you Strong Eagle for stepping in. I really appreciate it. It is a breath of fresh air. Thank you so much!

All, I deleted some of my previous posts because I am a private person and I don't feel comfortable sharing my life story and details up for the world to see on an on-going basis.

However, I hope from the bits and pieces that were quoted by MS when responding will help other forum members should they encounter the same question.

SE,
I was waiting for either you or SMS to step in. It is quite amusing actually.

I was waiting for it to turn to custard. This mud slinging contest is NOT healthy and it will take toll on both of you ,Satoko and Minor Citizen

@ Satoko ; unlike other forum board , we take pride on what we have here. Everyone has a stake and we try to make it clean and try to response to all questions here to our very best. There is no money in it, Just helping out. So...... play nice or else no one will assist you. Your NS son issue is NOT as easy as you think. Please do not for one second try to poke me to take any side ! I can be very cranky at times.
Do not think you have it sorted already ? This NS issue for your son will be too much for your plate to handle. Trust me.......... I have seen too many of these cases already.

@Minor Citizen ; Please do not over react. Chill Out. You need forumers to answers your queries, right?. We will try and you are lucky I responsed to your post on my weekends when I was working in the office . This is a free service and free service takes times as we also have our day job to deal with. Got it ? SMS, SE, Saint, KSL, Durain, QRM, Plavt, JP, Nakatago, X9200, RNT and many others here are regulars with their own useful knowledge and experiences. We will help if we can that is certain. But you cannot get instant answer and if especially, MYSELF, are inquisitive about your post, please do reply honestly so that we can point you to the correct direction. We have trolls on NS issue too which is a disservice to everyone here. You need help , you must have patience !!!
You are right, you are now in a spot for something that your parents, did or did not, do to the T . I hate to tell you this but what your parents did was providing you with too many options to choose from but not knowing thoroughly each options they provide has its pros and cons. Now, you suffered for their lack of judgement. This has been and will be played out time and time again. I have seen this too often the case, which sometimes really saddened me.
If you worry about spilling your gut in the open , PM me and I will reply to you. You have more than enough post to PM.

Anyway as advised by SE, cut it out or else you will be sent to the naughty corner.
 :D

Sorry guys. I'm back on the farm and am limited on something akin to being on dial-up so I am limited on the input that I can give at the moment. Sounds like SE said what I was trying to say earlier but due to my intermittent access problems, have tried to stay out. For the record, nobody has a monopoly on any thread. These NS threads are for everybody and anybody. We have the ability to multitask, something our two friends would do well to try to emulate.

At the moment, though, you all cannot disturb my reverie as I sit here at my kitchen window looking out over the Choptank River. The Caddie is out of the barn washed up and the weather is beautiful (especially after the 13 degrees weather and floods of a couple of weeks ago.) No damage, so it's a relaxing escape.
