My penalty will most likely be:
1) Fine? - As alluded from prior conversations, but that was before Piano Man incident.
2) NS? - Would they allow me to serve given that I am no longer a citizen and also I am past 30 which is the limit for serving NS?
3) Jail? - This would be the worse case scenario that I am trying to avoid.
4) Combination?
From the statistics published in 2006, would you happen to know among the 23 who were not drafted because they were no longer citizens, did they receive jail time or just a fine? I am looking for anecdotes I can use for my case.
Would you know how minor citizens similar to my case who enjoyed social economic benefits were treated in the past for defaulting?
Is there a public record of penalties for the verdicts passed in court for reference post Piano Man incident?
Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer!
Other forum experts, please feel free to weigh in as well. SMS?
Thank you everyone!
I am NOT trying to be inquisitive on your predicament. There are too may cases here where forumers supply us bits and pieces and we have to figure out what the hell has gone wrong from the normal procedure.
I am trying to form a plan for you that is all. I have gone this things myself for my kids which are about your age. Moreover I am trying to second guess what CMPB or MINDEF(Higher Hierachy) would do .
Ok here is the plan.
Plan A.
1. Call CMPB telling you want to face the music. If you have all the comms prior to this, please bring along to mitigate.
2. You will definitely gets the max fine $10K. Jail time there are about ** cases since 2006 approx. Sorry cannot reveal too much. I am sticking my head too much. For all of this cases at this age band; $5K and Two weeks jail. No NS although drafted. One did serve as civilian NS; no jail time and only $3K fine.
3. Tell them you wished to serve NS as a mitigating factor. Chances are will be dead NO.
4. Even if you are in jail , you only go to remand prison in Queenstown. Not that bad.
5, Then you are free to go. But since you are a HKG or US citizen and you have served your sentences, I am not sure if ICA will allow you to stay for visit . Chances of being deported is high too. ICA and Mindef are two different agencies
Plan B
1. If you are US citizen try going for deed poll ie. name change etc. As you are born in HKG not SG , your chances looks even better of NOT being detected by ICA.
2. The US PP will not reflect DOB as SG but HKG.
3. To cover your track call Citizen Advise Bureau , your Dad can check for you if you are still listed in Singapore Census and what did they classified you as. i.e Non SG or defaulters etc...
IMHO Plan B will be a better choice.
How's this for a plan ?
