Dependent pass versus Student pass
Dependent pass versus Student pass
I am relocating soon to Sing with my family. I had thought of applying for PR for myself and my wife, while keeping our kids on Student Passes. But my company recently suggested that I get Dependent Passes for the kids instead of Student Passes. They said DP would provide more flexibility if ever we wanted to shift schools. What is the diff between the two passes? Do DP holders have to do national service? Thanks for any answers.

And you will be very lucky if you even get PR, you shouldn't submit until you have been here a minimum of two years. The chance for PR is slim, out of 130k applications only 59k was approved.
The dependant pass is what it says's the family are all dependant on you and allows your spouse to look for employment, with only a LOC to be filled in by the sponsoring Company. Student visa is probably not suitable for your needs and not a requirement.

In either case, should you apply for PR for yourself and your wife, without including your kids, you can be sure that it will be rejected as that raises a big flag to the gahmen that you are nothing but PR abusers. And rightly so.swikky wrote:I am relocating soon to Sing with my family. I had thought of applying for PR for myself and my wife, while keeping our kids on Student Passes. SOME PEOPLE TRY TO TURN BACK THEIR ODOMETERS. NOT ME. I WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW WHY I LOOK THIS WAY. I'VE TRAVELED A LONG WAY, AND SOME OF THE ROADS WEREN'T PAVED. ~ Will Rogers
