part-time cleaning help?

Post by soon-to-be expat » Thu, 04 Nov 2004 6:25 pm

Are there 'cleaning ladies' in Singapore who just come to your house once a week to do the cleaning?

I'm wondering because I read so much about employing full-time maids, which I don't want to do. But I will need some help with the cleaning because of a back problem. So I will be looking for someone who would do the 'heavy cleaning' like kitchen and bath and windows for me, once a week or so, while I keep the house tidy and dusted and do all the other 'light' work I can still do.

Is that possible? And what are the hourly wages for a cleaning lady?

thanks again

Yes, there are agencies who can send a cleaning lady to your house on a weekly basis. I used to have one from an agency & I paid her S$10 per hour with a 4 hour minimum (I think). I have since changed to someone else who I found on a recommendation and I pay her a set monthly fee and she spends as much time as it takes to clean the whole apartment one day a week.
