Pipe Tobacco

Post by aburnsbkk » Fri, 10 Sep 2010 9:55 pm

I will be visiting Singapore soon on hoilday and am looking for any good tobacconists who sell flavoured or aromatic pipe tobacco. I live in Bangkok and there are very few shops that sell it. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

You really don't want to buy tobacco in Singapore because it is hellishly expensive. Cheap cigars are S$350 per box. Marlboro's are S$12 per pack. Can you say 'high tax'?

There is a tobacconist in Tanglin Mall, third floor, I believe, and there is a shop in the Orchard Parade Hotel. Try http://www.streetdb.com to get locations.

But again, if you are talking about very much tobacco, you'd be better off going to KL.

I don't mind paying good money for good tobacco!! In Bangkok, it is bland packaged stuff and even then quite hard to come by.

Thank you for your reply. I will certainly try Tanglin Mall and the OP Hotel. By the way, where's the good tobacconist in KL?

Thanks again.

It has been way long time, and I think there is a shop in KLCC. Otherwise, I might google mid valley mega mall... a bunch of shops there.

Thanks again! It'll be a while before I'm back in KL.

With regards to your first post, I remember the O/Parade Hotel on the bend in Orchard Rd. As far as I remember, it sold mostly pipes and the tobacco range was very poor.

Anywhere else apart from Tanglin Mall you can remember?

Thanks.

As a former smoker (1985 quit), no, not much info. I know what I know only because a business partner likes to smoke cigars. I will ask him.
